I have been Phree for so long online that I am as comfortable being Phree, or Byrd, my other main online nic as I am in my real world name. My best spades partner who lives in Texas is Stubby to me even if I met him in the real world he would just BE Stubby.... even tho I know his real name and send him cards at Christmas etc. When I went to the Graphicus workshop with Turquoise I had to think really hard to remember to use her real world name. For me I prefer to use a nicname online and avoid as much as possible the use of my real name.

As a point if interest the online gaming site where I used to be a sysop considered it extremly bad form to address anyone by any name other than their currently logged in user nic when we were in token. As a tokened sysop I often knew exactly who I was talking to but had to ensure i gave no hints in the main lobby as to who that person's other personas or real world identity might be. It may be from that ettiquette I find myself uncomfortable with the use of real world names.
