Not sure if there has been a thread about these.
A few places are doing special offers on Kodak printers at the moment. Think I mentioned them on another printer thread. I checked out printers at PCworld this morning and a Kodak printer was suggested. Advantage is that it is very easy to take photos from a digital camera and print them off. Plus they are fine with coated and other treated printer paper.
Just wondered if anyone on the forum has any experience of Kodak printers though.

I had a Kodak printer but had to return it as it developed a fault after only a couple of months. Also, the one I had didn't like cardstock and used to jam quite often (sorry I can't remember which model it was). I ended up swapping it for an HP wireless printer which I really like.

I have had a Kodak ESP5250 wireless printer for about a year now and been very pleased with it. Cartridges are so much cheaper than those I have had to buy for previous printers and seem to last a long time. Have recently been printing out photos and been pleased with the quality of them.

I've looked at that model and the 7250. I hadn't thought about printing off my photos until I was talking to the assistants at PCworld today. Looks so easy to just choose the pics you want and print them.

I've got an HP (not wireless) at the moment and that is jamming if I try to use 200gsm. It is getting to the point of needing replacement anyway. May well stick to 180gsm with any new printer I buy. Now I have discovered supersmooth paper (brill results) I think I will be using that more too.

Hi
We bench tested a Kodak printer and found it to be very slow and prone to jamming.
Over the years we have used many printers but have found that Canon make by far the best machines, fast data transfer, superior print quality and the ability to take upto 300gsm card.
We use Canon Pixma 550's throughout our office and have never had any problems with them.
For top quality and great value ink we use a company called Eezytrade ( www.eezytrade.co.uk )

I hasten to innoculate myself from that 'say it's great, lose it next' Hello magazine phenomenon, but, yes, I have a Canon Pixma 600 (so it is getting on now) and have loved it. The ink cartridges are pricey bought all at once but I print a lot of coloured images and photographs for crafting. I can get a reasonable weight cardstock through - prob 18ogsm - and love the fact I can have it loaded with 2 sizes at once. Look for a bottom loading cassette for, say, your A4 paper and a top loading sheet feeder for 6x4" photo paper to be in at the same time - you select which one in the printing process and I ensure I set up each craft project for the one I know I'll be using each time. This one also prints onto printable CDs which is a great feature.
I have looked at the Kodak printers, seduced by that ink reduction in price, but all the online reviews I've read indicated a thumbs down. It's a minefield, all consumer choice is, but you can only do your research, as you clearly are doing, and then jump in where it seems best to swim!

I love my Kodak ESP5250, great priced inks, mine takes 300gsm+ and print quality is fantastic. I also have a HP, Canon and can't remember the name of my black one but always use my kodak.

The ESP5250 is top of my list as far as choices go. The fact you have been able to use 300gsm+ with yours has clinched it! Just need to find the readies now.

I have just bought "Kodak ESP9250 All-in-1 WiFi Printer, Scanner Copier & Fax with Ink & Paper Pack" from QVC when it was a TSV (you can send it back you see) - and I love it, it does everything I want - I don't print on card, but i'll give it a try. It does print on 300gms - to me that's card.
I do find now I've got a wireless printer I use my CD Roms much more and it uses much less ink than an HP!

I have Canonpixma IP4200 like that as it takes up to 300gsm and acetate and vellum. Also like the way I only need to buy the colour that is out instead of my old HP Printer as I had to buy tricolour when only one colour had run out. (hp is in wardrobe ready for anyone who wants it)

I just bought a wireless one from currys it was 69.99 i think plus the both ink because the guy said it only comes with a trial ink set. He through in a block of A4 copy paper and some photo paper.
First thing i printed was around 100 decoupage sheets of me to you and the trial ink is still going.
I did have a hp but even though it was wireless i could never get it to work and the i.k was costing me a bad and i was only printing inserts
i believe the Kodak was ??310 the quality was suburb and i run 220 card through no problem.hope this helps

Thanks Freedom. Yes your info helped. Can't remember the number now but Kodak C something as it is a top loader. Good price with Amazon but will have to wait until end of August to budget.
At long last I got an email from Kodak customer services today. 200gsm is an accepted weight for these printers. So "systems are go"

And at long last I've ordered my new printer. Kodak C310. Feeling very brave as this is the first time I've chosen and ordered any computing gear without the real life help of a responsible adult. Not sure I'll be able to say the same about setting it up though. Machines of any description usually take one look at me and burst out laughing
