I notice Rich has the Sizzix Ink-its Letterpress (http://www.countryviewcrafts.co.uk/ink-its-letterpress-224-c.asp)Letterplates and wondered if any one had used them. I like the fact that they can be used on material too so any experience of that would be useful too.

I'd be interested too and I'm wondering what inks would work best with them.

There are some You Tube videos. I have only watched one so far which recommend pigment ink - so not a special printing ink but the effect looked beautiful.

What do you do with them GP? Are they stencils or embossing plates or cutting plates?

More information about inks on the You Tube video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlttqDVEeyU)
I have looked at letter-press systems before Cmazza, but you have had to have a specific machine and printing ink. These are thicker than embossing folders and are a single plate. They seem to be about the same thickness as a cutting plate. They deboss rather than emboss, as in all letter-press techniques and the ink goes into the deboss. The letter-press effect is often used on expensive invitations, sometimes just for a crest effect. These are designed to work with sizzix machines such as the big shot and you would have to work out a sandwich to try in the cuttlebug but I think it should be possible, not sure about the Grand Calibar because I don't really know about the width of the mouth. Do look and let me know what you think.

Hi I have had a look and I really like the idea, especially adding some versamark or perfect medium and heat embossing. They are not badly priced at £5 either, mmmmm tempted. I have a Big Shot so no probs for me. Thanks for the info. Good for doing wedding invites.

These look good, thanks for mentioning them, so they are like an embossing folder but quite a bit larger and just a single layer. The damask one looks gorgeous, Would look good using a few different inks, thinking pastel shades.
Oh dear something else to add to my list!!

Turn my back for 5 seconds and a great big thread appears :giggle:
One of our special friends has done a tutorial and review with these on her blog:

Thanks Rich. My usual havering meant that the damask one had gone! Lovely to have the sandwiches in the review. As soon as my family have gone back to Australia I have a lot of crafting to catch up on.

I have the letterpress starter kit, but didn't really get to grips with it, the inks and paper are quite expensive and I wasn't that impressed with the results. The Ink-Its look good though and are a good price, might be tempted to have another go with it!
