I've been umm-ing and arr-ing about buying a Kindle for some time now. However, I was sent an e-voucher for Tesco Direct who sell Kindles as well as Amazon. It's a bit of a curfuffle, you have to do a Click and Collect (Tesco are clearly prohitited by Amazon from selling online) but my local Collect store is where I buy my petrol from so no special journey needed.

So, if you quote code TDK-JKHN you'll get £10 off plus double clubcard points and you need to call 0845 600 4411, you can't order online.

I've not seen the Kindle discounted anywhere else, so I hope this helps others who may be considering it.

BTW, the above code gives £10 off orders over £100 on anything at Tesco Direct.

It's on my "what I want but can't afford yet" list, Dips! Hope you enjoy yours when you collect it. xxx

That's the same list as I have, Princess, but I was expecting to have to pay a very large dental bill this month (having been told that I needed a bridge and 2 crowns @ £1110) and instead had just an NHS filling @£30!!!! As I'd been saving like mad to pay for the treatment, when I didn't need it in the end I thought I'd treat myself, after all it is Christmas!!!! (plus I'm just sitting here trying to relax having just had my car shunted by foreign lorry - no major damage thank goodness).

Wow, Dips, that would have been some dental work there! I'm glad you didn't have to go through all that palaver and are able to treat yourself. Hope you're feeling okay after your shunt? Things like that can be very scary. (((hugs))) to you. xxx

OH has been told it what he's getting me for Xmas :D and I'm busy saving to put oddles of my favourite books on it straight away, I'll have to check where my collect store is and can I pay using the points I already have tokens for

I hope you are okay after the shunt, remember they can be more unsettling than people think so take it easy for a day or 3

Yikes Dips, hope you are OK, take things carefully, as Millburn said things like that can be unsettling.

As far as Kindle is concerned, I am still not convinced that it is as good has having a lovely touchy feely book to read. Also, I tend not to go for popular books so not sure what I like is downloadable yet.

I do know that the Tesco offer is thought of as being a real bargain though.

I do have a kindle and love it but also agree with you craftycat that it's great to hold a book too. The kindle is great for taking away and downloading really cheap books and maybe light reading that you wouldn't want to keep on your shelves once you've read it. Take a look at Amazon kindle store and see if the books you like are available.
I decided to read the series from which the film 'Angus, Thongs' etc was based on so worked out what order they were in and downloaded. For some reason, though, two in the sequence weren't downloadable so had to buy them so I could keep in the correct order!

I wasn't necessarily saying it was a great bargain, it is just that I've been looking for about 6 months now and I've never seen it discounted at all, so 10% off is better than nothing IF you were wanting to buy one anyway.

I think that it will be very useful for holidays. Last year when I went away, I took 8 books with me and they weighed a ton :)

Picking up it up tonight, so looking forward to having a play at the weekend!
