After seeing the Vagabond on QVC yesterday, my very generous partner has offered to get me one for my birthday next month.

After doing a bit of shopping around and research I've decided to get one from you as you seem to offer the best value for money and the best customer service should anything go wrong.

I was reading a thread on the 'other' forum yesterday about the Vagabond, and it seems that quite a few people who bought it when it first came out had problems with their machines dying on them. As it's quite a lot of money to invest in a die-cutting system, please could you give me your honest opinion on the Vagabond. I need a machine that will cut through thick material like chipboard. I have a Cuttlebug at the moment, and while I really like it, it does seem to struggle sometimes. Do you think the Vagabond is right for me, or would I be better off with a Bigshot.

I'm so confused, and don't want to make the wrong decision. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Rachel, sorry for the delay in replying. We have sold one machine that stoppped working and was replaced by Sizzix. We have sold lots and aren't aware of any particular frailties, mots owners seem more than happy with them. The motor is supposed to be more powerful than the old Sizzix Express electronic machine and so should be better at chomping through the thicker sort od materials that Tim likes to use in his crafting. We have a vagabond but we use our old blue Big Shot just as much, but perhaps this is juts out of habit as we've had it so long.

The choice between a vagbond and Big Shot really comes down to personal choice. The Vagabond looks great and is easy to use but being electric there is obviously more potential for things to go wrong. In our experience Sizzix tend to be very quick to sort out warranty claims if the worst happens. You also need to be near a socket to use it whereas the big shot can used anywhere, although your Cuttlebug is obviously the choice for portability so this might not be an issue for you.
