Hi
I have been looking for a crochet dvd, but the ones I have found seem to be prsented in an American way and I understand they have different terms to us. I just thought it will be easier to follow english terms while I am just beginning to learn. :confused2:
I remember Hayley West (from C&C) mentioned before that she was making a crochet dvd, so do you know when it will be released?
Thank you for all your help.

Can't help with your query CG but perhaps an email direct to the lady herself?

Hi Craftygee,

I got a really good DVD from (I think) The Knitting Parlour (www.knittingparlour.co.uk) called Crochet V**g*ns. It explains things in a really good English way. They have very good delivery times and free p&p over £10, For crochet supplies go to PurpleLinda ??(purplelinda.co.uk). Not the cheapest but certainly the best for crochet bits and pieces, good delivery times and you get your goods.

I hope the links work. I am only a customer of the above and not posting for any other reason apart from they give me very good service.

(DVD title edited to ensure nothing nasty gets onto the forurm)

Hi Muffintop

Thank you for the link and just checked the website, but only the knitting v** left, maybe the crochet one was sold out or discontinued. I think I will also follow JanTheNan advise to email Hayley directly.

Thank you so much for all your reply.

Hi Craftygee, I'm sorry to hear they don't have any left, probably a good sign that crochet is storming back! Alwayscrafting's idea of Youtube is very good. Now I have a new computer I might be able to get on myself!

Hi Muffintop, yes, I have followed the advice from JanTheNan to email Hayley, but still no reply!,,, then I also followed alwayscrafting's one and went on YouTube and really found loads and loads of clip... really helpful! Most of them are shown in American way and I found most of free pattern are written in American terms as well... so I am thinking maybe I should learn crochet in American term, save to confuse myself switching between UK & US term.... think I am getting there and I found one lovely pattern,,, something called 'cat-rocking, one piece cardigan' and it looked very clear to follow... got some yarn and will start this weekend,,, cant wait!!:wait:
Thank you for all your reply.

I'm left-handed so I knit like nobody else as I'm self-taught! I forget to say that sometimes online shops have their own blogs with tutorial vids in. I hope you getting really into it. I'd say Happy H**king but it might bring nasties onto the forum...

Hi Crafttgee, well done you. I think that deserves a :flower:

I can't get past the basic stitches yet but that's just me and my dingbat brain.

THANK YOU Muffintop. I have to admit it took me soooo long (long enough that I cant really remember) to pick up the skill how to do the basic stitches. I even dragged my hubby to learn it with me (he is left handed and we bought a instruction book for both handed),,, still no joy and gave up so many thimes. Up until last Christmas, I managed to work out the Granny Square and done a blanket, but still couldnt crochet in row (across) until I watched the youtube again again and again,,, so finally I got there. Still not good with the tension and I am doing the same pattern again as to practise, hopefully, this one will come out same length on both sides.

HI CraftyGee

Yes I heard Hayley say that she is doing a crochet DVD a little while back, so hopefully there is something coming up sometime soon.

I get a monthly magazine called "Inside Crochet" which is a British publication and has lots of great patterns and good basic "how to" sections every month, so you might want to try having a look at this. They have a Facebook page so you can see what it's all about. Definately recommended!
