I have the most basic Cricut and it doesn't have a "centre point" button which I seem to remember Mel refering to. Can anyone talk me through putting an aperture in the centre of a piece of card?

Could you do it by setting the paper size to the right width & cutting from there IYKWIM. Rather than starting from the centre, work out the size of aperture you want & start from the right hand top corner? I'm probably talking rubbish, but not sure how better to explain it, sorry.

I do understand you Genierose and I think I am going to have to work it out on paper and then move the blade to where I want the corner of aperture to be and let it cut from there which is, I think what you mean too. I can already feel the need for a bigger model coming on!

Join the club GP, that's why I'm getting the expression as I feel I'll get much more out of my carts.
I have done it useing the design studio and my gypsy but apart from that it's trial and error. Another person upgrading to an expression, my reason it I am fed up of cutting a strip off A4 paper. Very expensive paper LOL

That's a good enough reason to get an expression

I just went straight for the E as it was such a good deal on C&C before Xmas last year. Never regretted for a sec getting it either (even though I alread had the Craft Robo lite). Haven't quite been able to get myself to part with the CR yet though even though I haven't used it since getting the E lol. Maybe one day ... I keep thinking of how many carts I could buy for the E if I sold the CR.

I too still have the robo and cricut but I have so many beautiful designs that I can cut with the robo that well it doesnt take up a lot of room lol.

I have the original Cricut too.......and really need to get to grips with it, being able to cut an aperture would be good, if i can get my head around where to start the blade. I look at the bigger models and at both size and price and think I'm a long way off updating:thinking:

I will have to try and make it work as I too do not have the pennies to spare at the moment. The nicest thing about having to wait a while is there may be something even better by the time we can afford it!

Are you cutting out the shape of the card itself on the machine GP?
If I were cutting on my Pazzles, I'd create the shape, align it to the centre of the page and then position the apperture to the position I required, sorry I know nothing about the Cricut, this is probably no help whatsoever, sorry!

Thanks for the thought Jan. I think the answer may be the online software but I am not sure if it would work with this Cricut - it's very good but quite basic.
