View Full Version : Anyone Else Still Experiencing a Scripts Problems when viewing threads?
I've had a re-occurance of the slow-running scripts problem for about 2 weeks now. Is anyone else having this issue?

I've been getting it too, Dips, but only if I use Internet Explorer. It doesn't happen with Google Chrome.

Me too & usually only when it's a thread on the C&C section - all others seem to be fine.
Me too when I use IE on here and shoppingtelly but OK with Mozilla Firefox.

im sure Graham wont mind me copy and pasting it over for you
"it is an Intenet Explorer problem, if anyone who gets the error could send me a screen grab to graham@shoppingtelly.com could you also tell me the browser that you are using.
We had a similar problem sometime ago at crafttelly.com, I will pay for someone to take a look at it at the end of the month. I am also upgrading at the end of the month as the forum is now the busiest it has been since its launch.
I apologise for the issues that some people have been having, I promise i will do all i can to resolve. "
so it looks like its the same as we have had before

Yes I am, its a bit daunting at times but no doubt it will be resolved soon
Yes, me too - I think it was an update to Internet Explorer that really exposed it because we started getting script error messages but CT has been running slower on IE for months. I reported it to Graham and he is trying to sort it but I couldn't pinpoint what might be the cause so anything you've observed about when it occurs would be helpful - PM him. On Graham's advice I swopped over to Firefox just for this forum and it's whizzing along now. (Dead easy to do and doesn't cause any problems with performance- I did have problems with Chrome with my set-up). I'm still using IE as my main browser but have not encountered the script message elsewhere.

I'm getting the same problem - but only only Craft Telly. I'm also using Internet Exporer .
I'm not computer literate so don't know how to swap to Firefox etc....

Yes, I keep hoping but sadly it's effecting me too. So much so that this is probably going to be the only thread I read :-(

I used to fear using other browsers but they are all much better than Internet Explorer IMHO, you can run many browsers at once. I really like Firefox and would suggest everyone with IE download it and give it a try.

I have been searching for a fix and it appears to be a know issue with Internet Explorer, the "fix" is at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175500
Can you let me know if it resolves the problems.

Hi Graham, I've just done the Fix It and reloaded this page (which had the script error before the Fix IT), and didn't get the error this time.

Hi Graham,
I don't get the script on page 4 but it's hung up on page 3 in IE now, have loaded firefox to send this through. Each page is taking ages to load.

Hi Graham,
Just gone through page 1, 2, 3 & 4 of this thread. I'm not getting the script error but there is a problem with pages 1, 2 & 3 hanging for a while although it eventually loads. Page 4 is working fine, not sure if that helps or not LOL

Yes, and it's nearly 6 months since you posted this. Can the web master not do anything? It isn't just an occasional problem it's every time I try to either open mesage or post on EVER TIME!
I don't think it's tied up with FoilPlay's advert (which is another pest but I'm prepared to look kindly on that one as I like their stuff and shop with them).
It really is more than just a nuisance and it needs sorting out.

I get it occasionally with Firefox, when it kicks in I just disabled the plugin container and bingo, everything loads fine, MINUS the ads!
Ellen try removing all previous Java installations and then installing the latest version of Java on your machine. It doesn't solve the mystery of what on here is causing the script errors to start with but it might help your machine to deal with them better.
I recently loaded some security software (from a reputable source) which as well as damaging some existing software on my machine also, without asking, loaded Google Chrome. Google Chrome reacts very badly with some other software I have - heavens knows why - but between the two things I've had to had give my machine a thorough going over. I discovered a whole slew of damaged Java installations - looks like that something had stopped them being fully uninstalled when new updates were installed. I've removed them and installed the latest version and while my machine has still frozen a couple of times on craft telly using IE it is a lot better. Might not be this as I've given my system as thorough a sort out so made a few changes but Java is the most likely culprit.
Hi Janet, could you explain in really simple terms how we do what you suggest? I really like to get this cracked.
My machine has also automatically installed IE9 and I don't like it at all. Think I'll delete that and reload IE8.

I reverted back to IE8, too. 9 is aweful. I haven't had the script problem for the past couple of days. I don't know why, I haven't done anything.

I also use IE8 and keep getting " not responding " to a certain few threads , the feedback topic posted the other day is one of them , yet I can view page 2 on the same thread
I'm having problems getting on the forum but not all the time. I have contacted Graham in the past but then I'll try again and it'll be ok.

I get it in Safari and Firefox now on my Mac but not very often.
I get it at work where they use IE.
I think Graham has a lot going on at the moment so please bear that in mind.

Our desktop is a nightmare, every time I scroll down a thread it freezes and I have to exit everything. It's the only site I've had the problem with and couldn't work out from googling what the problem was either. I've been using my son's laptop recently without any trouble.
My laptop keeps freezing and so it takes me so long for it to start again it that it logs me out so I loose whats new.
