I know, they're tempting aren't they. I've gone for xmas ones now but will go back from some more general use ones later if these are good.

I've been looking at this too, but sadly currently funds are not in my favour........ but they are stonkingly gorgeous. Oh how the market has changed since spellbinders arrived. Now the world and his wife are marketing similar type dies. More and more every week.........I could buy everyone on the market and be a happy bunny, but I first need to win the pools..... or rather I first need to start doing the pools, so I can win them.

---- edit ----

And then I thought I'd seen them elsewhere...check out JS...bit cheaper & free p&p

They're lovely dies to work with and the card pops out of the die quite easily. Downside to them is the intricacy though. I find the snowflake border cuts better on a shim and needs to be along the edge of the plate rather than across. Not really what I wanted as I wanted it at the bottom of a top fold card. That said I've been over the moon with a couple of cards I've made with it. The ones I have dont like thick double sided 280gsm pearl card but give a clean cut on annamaries 300gsm. Only critisism I have is they're very easy to lose in amongst a messy desk and I'm still missing one even though I've had the playroom (and the bins) upside down looking for it. Have given in and ordered a replacement tho lol.

If some one is up to it- we could do a syndicate and pay through paypal? It could work out if organised correctly.

I absolutely love memory Box dies, in fact I'm getting a little addicted :) Have to say they do cut beautifully but you have to use a shim with alot of them and I have had to run them through my bug more than once to get a even cut. I will try the tip of cutting on the edge of the plates to see if that helps. I have a couple more Christmas ones on my wish list.

Looby hun, if you want a particular die cut, let me know and if I have the dir & the card/colour you want I will happily do them for you :)

Excellent idea Elphaba, I would definitely like to be in that.

Misty what a lovely gesture, thank you. If I need something I shall shout out.

I have been led astray again by naughty crafters on this forum! I have been trying to resist temptation, but I have given in and ordered one to try.

They look beautiful and so intricate, but I am not sure if they will work ok in my bug. I recently bought some beautiful spellbinder dies, cant recall the name but the main die is like a square doily. I tried cutting this from thin white card, and had to put it through the bug so many times to get it all to cut. When I finally got it cut, it wouldn't come out of the die. It ended up in little pieces in the bin. I have used the die since, but only with supersmooth decoupage paper. Have been wiping the die with a tumble dryer sheet to help get the diecut out. Will do the same with this memory box die when I get it and see what happens.

They definitely work in a cuttlebug, I had 2 mates bring theirs over to try, they don't need a tumbledrier sheet but some of them will need a shim.

With your spellbinder die, wipe the card with the sheet not the die and position the die as near to the side of the plate as poss then give it a 180 turn and run through again.

Hi all
If you want some of the xmas dies you best get them from wherever you can. On JS site some I wanted were out of stock so I requested an email when restocked. I had an email tues at 5.30pm. By the time I went to order they had all gone. Same has happened today with another die. I have phoned JS and the lady said more were on order on a 3 week delivery but they are going like hot cakes. Must be this years must have "toy". Managed to get 2 I wanted but can wait for the others until the heat dies down!
Happy crafting
Lin

oops - soz! (not really, I love sharing gorge stuff).

I rub a block of soap over my marianne butterfly to get it to pop out, it's still tough though. Any my ironwork spellbinders (the snowflakey ones) are a pig to get out. Will try soap next time.

Has anyone tried a cuttlehug shim yet? I've heard good things and think I should get one.

I have a number of these Memory Box dies and they work brilliantly in the Big Shot with the shim. They cut like a dream in it and are so intricate. Have you tried the die namics dies which are equally as good. Have a look in Oyster stamps or Dies to Die for and you will see how addicted you can become !

I can't understand why Memory Box don't bring out a release foam. It's that high density foam that comes as standard with Quickutz dies.
I never just cut it right in the middle, I places it to where the die would cut and with each new die would use the off cuts.* I've been using it on MB, DieNamics and Papertrey Ink dies and it works just fine so no faffing getting the delicate butterflies and scrolls out.

* Even found you could use the tiniest of pieces by butting them up on the die.

I use waxpaper between the die and the paper - it works a treat on those fiddly dies where you'd otherwise spend ages picking all the bits out.

The Memory Box dies cut like a dream with the Vagabond. I recommend Dave Brethauer's blog (he's the man behind Memory Box, who also do wonderful stamps and papers) for projects using the dies - like this one for embossing the Catalina wreath: http://davebrethauer.typepad.com/outsidethebox/2011/09/catalina-seasons.html

Thanks for the info. I was on the email list to be notified when the catalina die was back in stock and when I went to order it a few hours later it was out of stock again, will teach me to be quicker off the mark. Now I have seen it on the blog I am even keener to get it, it looks stunning especially how he has coloured and embossed it.

Jan you need to pull that balaclava further down so it covers your eyes, then you wouldn't be able to see even if you did look!

I use the Cricut Tool pack which has a tiny hook sort of tool, which you can use to remove the die cut from the die itself. Failing that, then a pair of pergamano scissors which are worth investing in ,as they are great for decoupage work.

I bought a tooth cleaning set from Poundland and one of the items in it is a double ended hook obviously for scraping your teeth but it is ideal for removing all the little bits of paper left in the dies.

I got the flower christmas tree memory box die today and it cut beautifully in the bug , I had no problem getting it out it fell off the die

It's a border and only supposed to cut one side of the card. I found mine cut better being longways along the side of the plate and if you use a shim the card will just pop out of the die as easy as anything. I have found that it doesnt like thick double sided pearl card but it cuts through 300gsm Annamarie white perfectly.

Just read elsewhere there's a lady who will be selling these dies at the NEC and will have 20 new releases on sale. Lucky you if you are going to the NEC this week end

:mysmilie_466: I am sooo glad that I'm not going, I would never be able to resist if I saw them 'in the flesh' At least on the net I can control myself enough to just buy a couple at a time.................... I think

Been playing with mine today in the bug. Couldn't get it to cut at first, but through trial and error, finally nailed it. I had to use a paper shim to get it to cut, and also make sure it was at the side of the plate. Put it through and wound it back through, and it was perfect! Love the result.

Has everyone got their dies from Crafts u Love, I ordered mine 10 days ago and no sign of them, they are still showing as in stock.

Did you all get despatch notices when yours were sent ?

Did you order anything else at the same time on pre-order. If you did, they hang on to your entire order until the pre-order item comes in, as I find out last month!

Thank you so much Budgie !!!!

I did indeed order more dies that were due in around 7/11, you are spot on !

I will just have to learn to be a little more patient.

It's very expensive being a member of this forum isnt it? I've been avoiding this thread and then Budgie showed us her wonderful card and then in a moment of weakness I looked and fortunately JSwere out of stock of the ones I wanted...... except one so I've ordered it.

Thank you Judith for your post.

I am really really annoyed here with Crafts u Love (well I don't love them anymore), they accidentally had a little oversell issue on a couple of dies, their words ! Shame it was on every single die I ordered, plus I have done advanced orders on other dies that were meant to arrive last week. Never at any time since I ordered the original dies have they shown out of stock.

They were ordered to complete the 100 pre prepared mats and layers I have done for a cancer charity event which has to be completed by this Friday.

I should have know better, I used this company for my first ever online order of crafty things and it took a very long time to arrive, I thought it was the norm then, they even sent some crappy peel offs as compensation.

I have always found Cards of Distinction very reliable. If an item is not in stock they remove it from their site or give a date when they expect them in.
I ordered two dies yesterday and they were despatched straight away.
