Mum and Dad surprised me with a Calibur for Christmas and I'd like to make use of its size (I currently have a Wizard). I'd really like to buy some things for embossing the front of A5 and 8x8 cards but I'm not really sure what's available. Are the large Impressabilities any good, or is there something better available, please?
Thanks.

Crafty Rich is the one to ask Lynne. He's the font of all knowledge inrespect of die cutting/embossing machines.

Creative Expresions now do A4 masks you can use for embossing. I think they are around £5ish

I use the Creative Expressions A4 Masks you do need the Creative Expressions embossing board the one with the GC is too thick for all embossing folders.

Thank you. I've just ordered the A4 butterfly Impressibilities and an Edgeabilities set to try it out. The Creative Expressions masks look good but I wasn't too keen on the designs of the large ones. Hopefully they will bring out some more.

Lynne I used my Cameo to cut two 8x8 templates from the Silhouette store using Doeflex. Then embossed with my Cameo. Not as heavily embossed as using an embossing folder, but can still see the embossing. I bought a set of the Creative Expression A4 stencils from C&C and the make my own Doeflex ones are as good. If you cut your own with Doeflex don't use small images as they hardly show up. I tried a Swiss dots ones, but not very good. Had to go over with an embossing tool.
There are lots of 5x7 embossing folders around now. I bought a couple of the Creative Expression ones but you do need to buy the Creative Expression embossing plate for the Cameo. If you already have a Wizard check Youtube as I think you can use the Wizard plate. I had my extra plate from Ebay with free p&p cheaper than C&C.

Thank you Dax. I will look into getting some Doeflex. Why do you cut 2, please? Do you double them up to give a deeper impression?
I wish someone would make the Cuttlebug style embossing folders in A4. I am sure they would sell really well. They give such a good result and are so easy to use.

Two different ones Lynne. One was snowflakes, the other flowers. Cameo cut setting 7 and a doube cut for the Doeflex. A poster on scrappers showed Grunge Paper gives a better embossing so I am going to buy some when I can afford it to try.

:mysmilie_61: There was me thinking you were doing something technical!
I have some grunge paper so I can try that out. Thanks Dax.

Well it wasn't 100% successful but I have some embossing! For some reason the right hand side of the Grungepaper cut better than the left. I had to pull a lot of those bits out and it ripped a bit. I double cut it on 7 but maybe I should have used 8. I then tried it in my Wizard using the plates and tan embossing mat but it wasn't thick enough and didn't emboss very well. So I decided to try it through the Calibur using the embossing plate that come with it. This is what I ended up with.
