Hi Sheena
Just caught the end of your 8 o'clock show this morning, where you had done a demo with the Radiant Rain dabbers (love those!) and...furniture polish??? I only saw the final result, which was fab. Please tell me what you did! It's an emergency!
(Anyone who saw, please dive in!)
Have set the vido for the 11 o'clock, so if you do it again I'll be fine, but....oh, I need to know so bad!
Thanks
Kate xxx
She coloured the back of the acetate with the Radiant Rain colours (which she dripped on using dropper bottles, I guess pipettes would work) then she dripped the floor polish over, gently laid a sheet of crumpled(for added texture)tissue on top of thinks and added more floor polish, pressed gently to flatten against the acetate. Left to dry, trimmed edges. Beautiful!
Hope this makes sense!

Have it recorded if anyone would like it on DVD.

Thanks - and it makes perfect sense! What kind of floor polish??? Name the brand please ladies!!! I'm not much of a housekeeper, so am struggling to think what kind of floor polish would drip......
Just preparing to watch the 11 o'clock show as I'm back now (been crying in the Dunelm Mill cafe since you ask. What else would someone like me do?!)
Love to all

Just caught a glimpse of the polish and it was liquid in a bottle called Klear LadyK.

Sheena - I've now seen it. Thanks for doing it again. Your demo was much better than the online one I found.
Thanks to everyone for their tips. Apparently, Klear has been rebranded as Pledge Multi-Surface Wax. I'm off to the shops later.

PS I may organise a swap as well. I neeeeeeeed fun. x

Well, you're ok Kate, I did indeed repeat it on the 11am show. Love that technique, and the polish you're looking for is 'Johnsons - Pledge Floor Wax' and you can get it at Asda! Get to your local chemist and buy a dropper bottle - the larger size than the one I used today is better and should just be about £1.
Have fun!

I'll post me results if any occur.

Loved the demos. I used to do something similar years ago, but no where near as lovely. Will have to see if I can emboss onto my acetate, if I can find it ...............
tried to buy the floor polish today at Sainsburys (not been down that aisle for a while!!) but couldn't find clear! Will try my chemist when I go to buy the dripped bottle!
Was it tissue paper, kleenex-type tissue or kitchen roll?
Brilliant show Sheena! The colours and the 'sheen' (no pun intended!) from the micas were STUNNING and a real feast for the eyes. Now want every colour! And love the silhouette-type stamps too! Oh, and the foil kits!!!!! I love it when you demo a variety of different products and show how they can work together - hope you're back on soon (well, let me save some up some pennies first!)

Well, I opened up the Pledge multi-surface wax, and I have to say it's not the same as what Sheena was using (in appearance at any rate). I guess this is because she has had her bottle for a while and they rebranded and reformulated. Anyway, I had a crack at the technique, opaque wax or not (it comes in a white bottle, I will photograph it Debo when I do my pics tomorrow, and I got it from Asda), and ended up looking like a mini-murderer as I could only find my red and purple Radiant Rains I bought a few years ago, and the purple one especially wasn't giving up the radiance without a fight. I ended up taking the tops off and pouring (I know, but it wasn't as horrific as it could have been) so I look like I've done fairly aristocratic mouse-tracide. I did two samples because I didn't know which side to do the embossing on (I hate heat embossing! it's always a disast), and I don't have any black embossing powder, so I did dark blue Cosmic Shimmer stuff (they call it something silly don't they, which currently escapes me) on the back so I had to put the colour directly on top of it, and then after that hideous experiment, I embossed with Papermania Enchanted Gold on the front of the other one. Which meant I could swish my colour and cleaner with gay abandon.
I decided, on reflection, that it was probably not the technique for me after all as I left it to dry.
Then I went back for a look before Lexie's school bus got here, and I have to say.....
....it's fabulous.
The blue Cosmic Shimmer stuff went like verdigris, and the gold was....astonishing.
Unfortunately, they are still wet (after about 4 hours!) so I will take some pics tomorrow (light permitting).
Yours red-fingeredly

Oooooo! It sounds excitingly messily scrumptious!
Did you use tissue or kitchen towel? Do you think it matters anyway? Must nip to shops for the 'boring' bits while I wait for the exciting bits to arrive in the post!

OOh! I can't wait to see how your stuff turned out.
I use either ordinary tissues (mens 3 ply are a good size, and one tissue does 3 cards! lol), or a not too embossed kitchen paper or hand towel.x

I used tissue paper! I seem to have lots.

Finally, I took some picks. We had snow last night - you'd think it would be bright, but they look a bit dark (my poor chickens are stood in their run being grumpy. The door is open and everything...)

So, my messy dining table with the floor cleaner on it for Debo, and then the actual bits.
I'm having a think about how else to use this technique/the wax. I know artists use it. There must be lots more use we can get from it (though it was £3 so I'm not breaking my heart over it, lol)
I've shown you mine, now show me yours!

Quick question, I've seen the crystal technique done before using clear glaze (glossy accents & similar, that big bottle that creative expressions do?) - does the floor wax smell? And if it does smell, is it an obvious 'this smells of polish' type smell (as opposed to a gentle floral (or whatever) perfume)? Please 'scuse if this is a bit of daft question, but I have never had occasion to go near anything approaching a floor wax so have no idea LOL
I cannot find any flippin eck!!!!!!

It sure does! But it's not unpleasant. It smells like.....cleaning fluid really. I just sniffed the backs of those samples and they smell...clean!
It's just liquid wax. I suppose it smells a bit like Jif used to.

LadyK, your samples are beautiful!
I'm still trying to find the floor wax! My friend has some so I can use some of hers but won't be seeing her for a few days and I wanted to do it NOW !!! I've even got the dropper bottle ready! :(

I poured a little in the lid and just poured it from there. I worked on my glass mat in case there was a mess. It was fine. I will say that they did stick a bit, especially to paper, so it might be an idea to put cling film down on your paper so you can peel it off (obv after you've done embossing!)

Love your samples Kate. Wish I felt well enough to give it a try. However I will put the wax on my shopping list, which I can assure you will NEVER be used on my floors!!

Hey hun
Walking is good. Try and have a little walk (if it don't snow). It may help. Now my eye is clearing up I feel masses better. (Although today is a girly 'bad' day.) Even got on the exercise bike a couple times last week. I make sure I listen to music I love, too. Hitting Todd Rundgren where he hurts right now. Maybe I'll be able to move to something else soon. Be nice to yourself always.
Love Kate xxxxxx
Got it at last!!!!!!! where's me tissue paper and where did I put my acitate?

Ooooo Lady K! Your samples are as beautiful as your description was amusing! I had decided this wasn't the technique for me BUT your pictures have seen me adding Johnson's to my ASDA list. Thanks Lady K. Job well done!

Just been into my craftroom to have another go. I was inspired by the March card challenge, so have gone for blues to make a background for a picture. I have been a bit naughty and used Distress products and fairy dust, so we'll see how it turns out.
I had a great plan to make a card for the swap based on the song Blue Orpheus, but it occurred to me that it was a bit obscure and unlikely to mean anything to anyone on here (by which I really mean 'anyone normal'), so I decided to do it for myself. Love RW's idea, and have millions of 'favourite' songs.
Will post a pic if it works.
I love the smell of Pledge in the morning.

WELL the cheapo polish was a disaster & i wouldnt want it on my furniture either........the clear mr sheen stuff is great for non smearing BUT no use for the task at hand even though i did give it a good go........soooooo its either a LONGGGGG trip to sainsburys where it comes up on search engines that they sell it.......hoewever ebay also sell it so may sit on butt * order from there............ohhhhhhhh flip

Sainsbury in Cardiff had a liquid floor polish (think that is the one recommended) this morning. Didn't buy any. Just so happens that I am not interested in trying this technique. Also daren't risk polishing my wood floors or my darling kits would be doing a Tom and Jerry cartoon and splatting themselves into the wall.

Ok, so I managed to find a bottle of the pledge multi surface wax in Sainsbury's this morning but it has a white tinge, not completely clear like Sheena had. So I googled and there is another type by Pledge which is called Pledge with Future shine. That one looks clear... but I can't find any in the shops round here. I've tried Sainsbury, and Wilkinsons. Tesco and Asda left to try.
If Sheena is reading this - where did you get your clear polish... please share!
It also occurred to me that this could be like the "Delia effect" . The company may find themselves resurrecting the old brand just to cater for us crafters turned onto the product by Sheena!
Jan can I take a peep when I see you for coffee please

I have some which I use on polymer clay. It's called Klear, by Johnsons. I don't think they make it anymore though, they brought out another one but it didn't seem as good.
Sorry, not much help, but the bottle Sheena used looked like mine.
