Just looking for advice from anyone who has a BIA. I have my birthday coming up soon and I am thinking about asking for one but I would like to know if the one currently for sale on QVC is the best value for money or is there somewhere else to buy one. I also wanted to know what other tools/equipment I need to get started? Will it be a useful addition to have?
Sorry about all the questions.

IMHO what QVC offer is quite good value for money. A friend bought a kit from the outlet shop and she paid around £26 for the lot. Being as the storage bag alone is £20. I suggest you buy the pukka bookcovers and matching inards to decorate, as it can be a problem getting everything just so.
I made a couple of boxes to hold my ATCs and FLAP swaps, once you have one, its difficult to stop making goodies and you will find uses other than straight papercraft, decorated books as presents for example.

I bought the BIA from QVC on craft day, it was not a bad deal due to the 3 easy pays and the extra bits they threw in. However it's the old blue one and I have to admit to wondering if perhaps there may be better deals soon as the new pink model comes into stock - there may be some good deals soon on the blue as craft sellers clear out stocks of the old colour. As far as I can make out the new pink BIA does not really do anything much more than the old one so if your not a pink kind of a girl and colour does not matter there may be some good deals to be had on the blue one if you shop around a bit and maybe wait to see if there are clearance offers to make way for the pink one.

Wow I love pink crafty stuff! I was thinking that the BIA would be my next big crafty buy in a couple of months and if there's a pink one coming out, then I'll have to have that one. It'll go with the pink Big Bite.
The only thing that would have made the Cricut better would have been if it had been pink, lol!

There you go Marie...... just for you .... the pink BIA in stock in the UK, but I don't know if that is a particularly great price - I would recommend you shop round before buying.

I'm hanging on until the pink one becomes more readily available in the UK (around Jan 2009 according to the Zutter website). It will punch though thicker materials than the blue version.
There's quite a few for sale on ebay but they're in the US and I don't want to pay duty on one if they're going to be in the UK soon.

well you won't pay duty if you import it from the US as the value of the goods is less than £120 or whatever the new limit is (it's over £100 anyway!) and probably no VAT either as they often don't bother collecting small amounts of VAT. So it still might be worth getting one on Ebay.
I can't afford one at the minute anyway, I'm sure QVC or maybe even IW might have the pink one in stock at some point later in the year. It is very sweet though so I'd definately like one eventually!

Hello Planet Earth calling PJP - I'ts already available in the UK from Craft Obsessions- I posted a link showing the pink BIA in my previous post ;).
I suggest you google Pink Bind It All tho first and look to see if there are any better deals. I am happy with the blue one tho as it was a good deal on QVC and it can probably punch all that I need it to do.

Thanks for your replies. I am not really bothered about colour but if the pink one punches through thicker items then maybe I should get that one instead. Phree do you mainly use yours for book type projects or scrapbooking?

Hi Mrs D, I don't have mine yet, waiting on delivery - it was ordered on Craft Day on the 22nd so who knows it may arrive today! However I have used one twice at workshops held at Graphicus - it was the the old blue model as this was before the pink one was launched. I can tell you that at the first workshop I did it powered through chipboard book covers that had also been covered with metal absolutely no problem at all (the workshop theme was metal art). The subsequent workshop it was just a regular chipboard cover to which pretty papers had been applied.
So my thoughts are that if the old one can do that much then if you really need more punching power you must be planning on punching thru some incredibly thick stuff - and that is why I am not necessarily impressed by the improvements cited for the new model and think it may be best to shop around looking for any good deals on the older blue one if stockist are offering them at a clearance price to make way for the pink one. However that is only my opinion and I could indeed be proven wrong by someone who has the pink one already and can cite examples of jobs it can do that the older model struggles with.

Thanks Phree, I must admit I can't think of anything thicker that I might want to punch except perhaps acrylic but I think the blue one does acrylic too.

I think it's a really neat piece of equipment. I want to make some desk calendars for 2010 (well maybe even for the rest of this year!) and this is a great tool for using on chipboard or other stiff materials.

I keep looking at them but I just don't think I would use it that much. There are some lovely things on their website though. Thanks Sam.
