View Full Version : Want to Work at IW on Craft?
I'm only posting this half in jest, I saw the following on IW plc's website
Craft Show Coordinator Job (http://www.idealshoppingdirect.co.uk/vacanciesDetails.asp?uid=247)
If you live near Peterborough and have always wanted to turn your hobby into a job, it might be worth considering (bet you wouldn't 'fess up on here if you got it though:cool:)!

Can think of at least two possible candidates, as for their identities, I really could not say :D
Gosh - we have loads of candidates here. Pam & Jan both live out that way, and I'm sure there are a couple of others too. Go on girls and put some class into C&C's dull live shows!
I live near there (well about twenty miles away) but would only be able to get there once a week by bus. lol Transport isn't very good around here. lol
DianaDreads lives around here too.

You'd be so fabulous - I'm sure they'd pay for a taxi to transport you whenever you're needed!
I wondered if it was Diana, but got it into my head that she was Scottish!

They'll probably try to pay you in those "swept up off the factory floor" Offcut kits - sorry, Bumper Variety Card Kits:D

..or your pay will be cut by £20 each week until you appear on an Extravaganza with no P&P..

Imagine working in the same building as Steph, Joanne, Ellis, Nigel etc.... and you would have to pretend to like fairies!

I have family in Peterborough, would consider moving but I doubt they'd pay me what I think I'm worth! :D
And Phree, I agree about improvements! I'm sure anyone of us could make the place work better!

Ooh, I'd love to do that!!! I used to work for a mail order craft company before I had DS and became the carer for OH but sadly I don't drive and buses aren't great around here (think the last one back from Peterborough town centre is 6.30 so I'd be sleeping under the counter after an 11pm extravaganza show!).
The first thing I'd do when "Checking that each item is accompanied by an acceptable concept still" is make sure that you can see what the ruddy stamps look like rather than laying them out so all you can see is a sheet of rubber - does no-one ever think to put the image sheet out so you can see what they are?!!!
However I think I would be let down with "Returning all relevant elements correctly to their respective storage areas" - if they asked to see what I do at home it would involve chucking it all in a RUB and sorting through it when said items are urgently needed.
Do you think they'd let this person become "magic hands" too? If one of us got the job we could make sure one of us always won the free cards.
On a downside they wouldn't like us posting about our experiences so we'd gain a "Ms X" - and maybe find out who the mysterious Mr I is!!!

Indeed Colourarc, lets face it, a trained chimp could probably do a better job than what they do currently so any CT member would be a huge improvement.

Believe me ROC the thought did cross my mind, however I think Glenda's reaction may be one of horror and dismay to hear I wanted her doing at least 20 hours of shows a week :D The Stamp addicts team and Jayne Nestorenko would also probably have similar fits of dismay.
Maybe I could persaude Sandra to come and demo her Kadoodle stamps.... and then there is that awful woman and her side kick "Salvatore" with their weddiing favours... hmmmmmm I know.... get rid of them and replace with Dips Designs :D

With the length of the job description I'm surprised they don't want to stick a broom up the applicants bum so they can sweep up as well. It sounds as if whoever gets it will do all the work, with none of the credt.
With any other company this might be a great job. Sadly I can't get to Peterborough, so I will have to give it a miss this time.

Perhaps JJ should apply coz he's had such great experience at QVC getting things ready for Dawn. I'm sure he would get a glowing reference.

Go on Phree you know you want to! :D
Only just seen this thread - really funny. I think any one of us would bring a wealth of enthusiasm and ideas to liven things up. I live too far away phew.
Hehehe, we could have some real fun thinking of peeps on here to do the job who would have a big impact on IW, I'm thinking:
Julie - showing the female presenters of IW what real class looks like in action
LorrianeJ - taking no prisoners if someone like Martin starts acting stupid (although I don't think it's an act.....)
Jeanette - pointing out to them on every occaasion where the customers could buy the stock cheaper, quicker and better
ROC - secretly dispatching all CI orders with free p&p
... Lol, I could go on!

dips, you missed out Welly, she could be in charge of the special "invisible to hubby" delivery service :D.... oh and we ought to put her in charge of web site develepment too I think.... after all she has vast experience of the foibles of the web site so she knows exactly what needs fixing.
then there is marzi with her luxury manicures..... definately a candiate for "magic hands"
hmmmmm maybe we should set up our OWN craft shopping channel... we have the talent I am sure ;)
Very good points, Phree. You'd be in charge of the "if the presenter tries to interupt either Glenda or Jayne, I'll take them out with my bare hands" activity.

that delivery service sounds magic; of course we'd get rid of presenters and especially craft queens - and there would be a limit on the sale of CD-ROMs as well!
