This is my first "go" ever using a craft CD, it's taken a bit of getting used to in how to use the different shaped toppers but here are my attempts. First of all, Out of Africa:

Wow dips, they are all fab. I don't usually care too much for pink but the flamingo card is gorgeous. I didn't see the CD show on C&C, so up till now had only seen the samples on JS site and was not feeling too smitten by them....your cards have changed my mind, I am adding that CD to my wish list.

Thanks, everyone. For those of you that remember me from this time a year ago, it is the Scarecrow Festival this coming weekend and I always do a card stand there. I thought that this CD lent itself to Men's cards, which I always struggle on.

Has anyone ever printed single images larger from a JS CD? Do you still get a good result? I may have a little play but not this week as I now need to turn my hand to Boys cards & New Baby cards.

Gosh Dips you have been busy! Fab selection of cards. What do you print the images onto? I've always been put off CDs because I didn't want the cost of buying expensive photo paper.

I must admit, NiceCupOfTea, that I've been having a little experiment. Firstly, I've been quite nawty and printed them off on my office (laser) printer rather than my own inkjet. This is because I mainly printed onto my all time favourite card, Stardream, especially for the African cards. However, I got a very good, clean crisp result when I printed onto Wove cardstock (the Puddies and most of the Marine were done this way), which is a very smooth, matt cardstock. I'm not that keen on the glossy finish you get with photopaper (fine for photos, not so keen for cards).

Thanks Dips for the quick reply. I shall have to start thinking about some CDs I think (like I haven't got enough stuff to keep me going).

nicecupofteaI agree with dips about glossy photopaper, for most card projects I think it is too glossy - a matt or satin finish is better. Or printing onto pearlescent card/paper as dips has done.

However the question of glossy or not is perhaps a matter of personal taste - JS herself is always raving about using glossy - so don't let us put you off. If you want glossy then Tesco do some very affordable glossy photo papers in their "Value" range - it's under £3 for a pack of 20 A4 sheets. The weight is 170gsm so it's not flimsy, but it's not heavy enough to actually make your card from - you would want to matting onto something heavier. My hubby uses the Tesco Value gloss a lot and gets good results printing photos with a lot of find detail in them. I seem to recall Partners (The Stationary Box) also have a pretty good price pack of glossy photo paper also.

Gorgeous cards Dips. They look really classy. I love how you've printed the Flamingos onto pink card.

My Mum has this CD. I will be printing off loads of papers when I go home next!

Ta Phree for the advice. What you said about Joanna Sheen using glossy paper is what got my thinking far too much on what to use. She always says she uses cheap photo paper but then changes the settings on her computer when she prints them out. It got me worried coz my printer seems to be the 4x4 of the printer world when I think how much ink it seems to use.

Lovely cards Dips. Well doen. Does this mean you are converted on the cd front now? LOL Hope so.

I use HP everyday photo paper which is only semi gloss. I don't care fro the full gloss look either on cards. I mainly use the HP everyday for my decoupage too. I always manage to get good deals on it bgy doing a search on the net.

I often export the pics of JS cds into my Card factory programme as it's a waste of paper and ink if I want several copies of the pic to decoupage. Just copy and paste and alter the size as you want. Most of the pics transfer fine. I have found though that if I want to reduce the size , it's best to use the biggest of the pics and reduce it. Othewise I find the image isn't completely crisp and clear.

Just been trying to print out some white rose photographs for a Diamond Anniversary card I've been asked to make and it keeps coming out with lines across it. I don't have much luck with printers. I've tried several different photos and it's happening on all of them. This is real reason I don't buy any crafting CDs. So, I'm really jealous now Dips, that you can make such nice cards from a CD. Looks like mine's is going to have decoupage on it instead then.

Maybe it needs the print head realigned. If you check the 'printer properties' and then go into 'maintenance' you can print a test page to try to resolve this problem.
