Just using silicone glue for the first time. Any advice on how long it takes to dry properly please? Am sticking textured paper onto DCWV glitter card. Thank ewe.

It should be fine in 15-20 mins

I wait at least 30 mins before touching the card and if it's to be scanned or posted you need to leave it over night/about 12 hours.

Thanks for the replies ladies. I'd left it on for about 30 minutes and was still able to peel them apart, although there was an overhang that I was pulling on, which won't be the case with the card I'm making. So I've now stuck the real thing and placed it under a heavy book and pressed my great weight on it a few times, and I'll leave it until later in the evening to finish the card.

It's a card to be delivered "by hand" on Saturday, PP, so it doesn't have to endure the postal service!

should be fine then Anne, I leave silicone as long as feasibly possible!

To state the obvious, it does also depend on how thick the glue is. I tend to use silicon to stick big, heavy, glittery things and use a fair old dob of glue - which I always leave for at least 24hrs before putting in an envelop or box.

Be careful not to get it on your clothes, it ruins them. The ones I have used can peel off most things but rub your fingers on your clothes and no way will come off. Sometimes found that if you store cards for a while they can sometimes fall apart even with silicone so beware!!! Must depend on the surfaces of the card.

Thanks Dips. Never be worried about stating the obvious to me! :D

Thanks for that kriskros. I'm a terrible one for wiping my fingers on my jeans, although I did have kitchen roll on hand yesterday. Am beginning to wonder if I should have used glue dots.

I've not tried it with textured paper and glitter card but whenever I want a really strong bond I use my Glossy Accents Anne.

I did consider that Lynne, but have never used glossy accents as an adhesive like that so I chickened out!

My silicone glue sticking does appear to be very well stuck this morning, but I can't believe that I can smell the glue on it! Pinflair for me, I think, if I want to use this kind of adhesive again.

If you can smell the silicone glue then it's probably because you have a solvent based one. They can be a bit stinky! I know that Stix 2 & Dovecraft are non-solvent based, but I'm not sure about all the other brands.:)

The Pinflair gel is nicer to use - same results as silicone but no smell

Thanks ladies.

I love this forum. I know that silicone glue is a staple item for many crafters, but I had never used it before. Felt slightly dim asking the question, but got all sorts of useful responses. Thank you all! :)
