Just thought that I'd report that the QVC TSV collection of tree peonies have literally exploded into growth this past week or so - I was a bit worried as I'd potted them up over a month ago and nothing seemed to be happening then over the Easter weekend and this past week, tiny green shoots started to develop and now I've got loads of lovely little leaves on all three of them!
I'm still new enough to gardening (well if container plants on the balcony can be called gardening) where I get excited when something new starts growing and although these are just small leaves and stalks, I'm amazed by it :) Now just waiting to see if my tree lilies come along as well, fingers crossed....

SOunds like you taking good care of your "babies" Marie :) I bought the OTO of the yellow tree peony, my first ever purchase of plants from QVC, it doesn't seem to be doing much but then again it hasn't died yet either! Please keep us updated on yours.

2 of my tree peonies are growing well, lots of leaves, but the other one has not as yet done anything, so I might just have two out of 3.
However, just got my sweetpeas and am waiting for the rain to stop and then I can plant them, (just about my favourite for the summer), my lily of the valley bed is looking good, I love a small posy of these by the bed, absolute heaven to go so sleep smelling those.
I love Sweetpeas too Prudence, ours are ready to go out too (we grew them from seed) but it's very cold here at the moment. It's been lovely and bright but there's been a bitter wind so we aren't putting them out yet.

Well I've managed to kill off most of my Geranium plugs and half of my Phlox roots, i think I over-watered them and I've only got 4 survivors out of 10 Geraniums and 2 out of 4 Phlox left :o:o
Oh well, can't succeed with everything, at least it's still early enough in the year to plant some more! I think I'd rather loose a few small flowering plants than the lilies and the peonies ;)

That's my favourite trick Marie. I can't have house plants because I kill them all.

Don't know if I or anyone else had said this before Marie, but Tree Peonies are very prone to wind burn in their early years, keep them in your most protected spot for the first season or two, then you will be rewarded with one of the most spectacular plants there is !

Thanks for that Julie, actually I'm quite lucky as they are well protected from wind on the balcony!

Marie, I got some of Richard Jackson's flower power and root booster - I have to say they have made a difference to my young plants.

Yes I've got that stuff too and it definately seems to make a difference - last year I planted up one lot of plants with teh root booster and one lot without and I reckon that the root booster plants ended up about double tthe size. I'm sure that there are other good products in the shops but these ones are delivered to the door and seem to do a good job so I'm happy with them!:)

I think I had better order some of that stuff then, as I have just potted on 160 bizzy lizzie plugs 80 gernaiums plugs and 100 lobilia, plugs and 280 marigold seeds( will not be doing that next year as most of the seeds ended up in the rug as it was too windy to do them outside yesterday,) still awaiting my fushias,I am hoping for a better display this year as last year I had 250 trailing lizzies and 150 trailing geraniums and they were very weedy untill almost the end o the summer when they decided to burst into life.
