my fractionals always look messy, especially on evenweave. Is it just a case of practice? I haven't been X-stitching 4 long

How do you do them?
I've stopped doing the finishing line and only do the small line if where i'm doing them is covered by a back stitch if that makes sense?

I know what you mean! You don't make a 'triangle shape' in all of your fractional stitches.
I never do the line across either.

If you've not been doing cross-stitch long you are doing well to stitch on evenweave!
It probably is just a matter of practise.

Just trying to think as I've not cross stitched for a while...whirr...click...:D
As far as I can remember I did the quarter stitch and then the half stitch but only if it sloped the same way as all the other top stitches of the whole stitches...if it didn't, I did the half stitch, then the quarter stitch which had the half stitch caught under it...er, does that make any sense at all?
