This occurred to me last night when I got my ink pads out - out of curiosity, is there any 'correct' way to store ink pads? I have all my good ones (as in not the 30 cheap mini cubes from Lakeland LOL) more or less flat & padside down in a box with the vague idea this keeps the ink at the top of the pad?? This is not anything I've heard/read to do, I just thought it might the right thing to do...

Welly, they should be kept flat and only turned upside down when they are nearing the end of their life, also away from high heat (ie not right next door to a radiator or in very strong sunlight).

HTH!

I store new ones right sides up and old ones rightside down.....the only real no no is stacking them on their sides as you get uneven ink distribution

If you were really paranoid (or addicted to lock n lock) you could keep them in an air tight box. BTW I keep mine pad side down even when they're new, never caught any harm.

It can depend on the pad - never store an Adirondack Rainbow Pad wrong side up if you want to preserve the integrity of the colour bands for as along as possible.

Errrrrrrr and I am paranoid - mine are in air tight boxes - not lock N lock, just cheapie Tesco Value Range food storage containers :D

Oh, I could by lock N lock style storage in Tesco, but it's like this.... I see the price then I see the price of the value ones and realised that by buying the value ones I can buy MORE ink pads with the money I save, of course there is one fatal flaw in that plan.....

and the flaw is ?

Well, if you buy more ink pads you then need more storage..... so you then save more money by opting for the cheap storage boxes............which means as I was so frugal buying only the cheapie value ones I have saved money so I can justify spending it on.......

yep..........more ink pads........

I guess you can see where this is going ;)
