Has anyone ever used this site http://www.simplyscrapbookingnow.com or http://www.easyribbonholder.co.uk, which are the same site.
I was having a look round for ribbon storage ideas (to go with my new stock of RUBs) last night and came across the site which has a downloadable ebook for £5.95 showing how to make your own ribbon holders, in theory from 3 household/craft basicx. I wsa a bit intrigued and of course it would be cheaper than buying a load of ribbon rings or ribbon wraps. It looks like some she has made some ribbon wraps that hang together on a single ring or something but i couldn't see anymore detail of how she's done it!
I know I'll end up buying it...........I'm intrigued :o

I had a look at the youtube vid. IMO (I am a nasty suspicious person) if she won't show the whole thing then it is either a rubbish idea or something you can work out for yourself! (maybe both lol) The blurb about each book should cost 12 pounds odd and you are getting two for only 5.95 stinks too...somwhere I have seen homemade ribbon storage instructions, will go take a look

here are a few links to suggestions The last one is a tie hanger...they come much cheaper than a tenner from pound type shops
As I buy ribbon in bulk (50m spools), I use ktchen towel holders to keep the ribbon tidy and easily accesible!

Mine was seen hanging on the wall on my craft room pics. I opened out a metal coathanger, threaded the ribbon spools on and hooked the bottom up just enough to stop them dropping back off, the hook part of the hanger is used to hang the whole thing on the wall.

Ooh lots of good ideas there, in fact I've been having abit of a play this afternoon (should be working but I just had to try out my RUBs) and it occurred to me that a good way of making ribbon tags would be to cut up some of those plastic boxes that washing powder liquitabs comes up - I had a try and it works really well! :D
I want to put my ribbons into one of the deep RUB organiser trays so that I can see them all laid out. I cut the plastic box up into squares the same size as the compartments, the wider ribbons go one each round a tag and with the narrower ribbons I can get 2 or 3 around each tab.:p
Looks really neat - I feel like I should be on Blue Peter! ;)

I just remembered, if it loose short bits not spools, you can also get a wire coathanger and put clothes pegs on it (open them and shove until the small hole is round the bar) then peg the ends of the ribbon on the pegs

hi Marie
sounds like you've been having a great time getting organised!
I wind my ribbons round cardboard or plastic cotton spools, then stor them by colour in small RUBs - yeh I know I'm sad, but I love it :p

Could you cut up plastic milk containers in the same way? I was thinking of the 4pt or 6pt ones.

I don't see why not Lioness, it's the same sort of plastic and those big containers have lots of cut-uppable bits on them, IYSWIM!
I found an old broken plastic storage box that Iwas planning to throw out this week as well and spent a couple of quiet hours with a heavy duty craft knife cutting it up into 2 x 2 1/2 inch bits which are the perfect size to fit into the deep RUB organisers and wrap my ribbons round. So soon I'll have a very pretty collection of ribbons in colour order, very satisfying!
I'm quite mad sometimes, getting satisfied by wrapping ribbon round bits of plastic.........:o
Help, Sheila, I am soooo tempted to order it! the suspense is killing me!
I bought the ribbon holder and it is a great idea.

Just to mention that after my original post about this e-book, I had a very nice e-mail from the author of the book, Sunday, an American scrapper who is based here in the UK. She offered to let me see the book for free on condition that I didn't give away its contents if I would put a review on the forum.
Anyway I actually got round to looking at it yesterday and agree with Viv, it's a really good neat idea which is very quick and easy to make. The e-book is very well written and the instructions are easy to follow. It's difficult to describe it without giving away much information about it. Apparantly she has had very positive feedback from some people who have bought the book and used the system, so it's certainly worth looking at.
I won't be using the system myself in its current form but made some suggestions to Sunday about adapting it, so I'll be having a play with it to see if it will work for me. But don't let that put you off, it is a neat system and very easy to make. Perhaps Viv can give us a bit more feedback about setting up and using the system once she's got started?
I've encouraged Sunday to join the forum as she is an experienced scrapper and runs a number of craft websites. I think that we could do with an experienced scrapper on the forum and it would be great to get her ideas and thoughts on scrapping and other issues!

Thanks Marie for this post. I was very impressed with the product but feared to make too much of it in my post in case it was perceived that I was plugging it for personal reasons.
I found Sunday very helpful and genuine and I am glad you invited her to join our forum.
I am, at the moment, in the process of having a massive reshuffle and storing of my craft stash- next I will be making the ribbon holder. Will let you know how I get on
