Aw, thanks for kind words Mrs D, it's not a new career sadly - I have to admit it would be lovely to be able to earn a living doing something crafty! I also coloured the index sheet for the Easter guild stamps - the one with the fabulous cockerel.

Must of missed the mention on the Easter one. What's your favourite method of colouring things in?

Yes I liked your colouring as well Phree, well done! Must be great to get the crafty equivalent of your "name in print" and especially with Glenda's stuff.

Hi Mrs D, I wrote an answer to this question somewhere else recently but as I can't recall which thread it was in - here goes:

Both of the EI index sheets were done with Derwent Inktense Pencils - the choice of those particular pencils was mainly down to the fact that they are a product which Graphicus stocks and Glenda made a point of mentioning in the Easter Guild newsletter that I had used the Inktense pencils. Another factor however was the need to be able to scan the finished artwork and e-mail it back to Glenda - shimmery stuff like Twinkling H2O paints do not always show up so well once scanned or photographed.

However for general crafting my choice of colouring mediums depends on 2 things - firstly the look I want to acheive - and secondly my weakness for sparkle and shimmer! If you have seen people like Jayne Nestorenko work with glitters then you will understand why I think of glitters as a colouring medium and not just an embellishment!

Basically I will use anything and I have been fortunate enough to gather a fairly decent range of colouring tools to play with - Watercolour Pencils, the aforementioned Inktense pencils, Prismacolor Pencils which I use with low-odour mineral spirts, brush markers, Twinkling H2O paints, Sakura Pens (Glaze, Stardust, Souffle, Metallics) Tinkabella Inks (which are a water based acrylic ink if memory serves), they leave a lovely sheen when dry, Shimmerz Paints. I think that about covers it for now......tho Copic Markers have been on my wish list for rather a long time!

Oh and ink pads - they are used for more than stamping - I have in my time coloured stamped flowers and things by sponging on inks from my inkpads, or I guess if you make a sort of background paper with inks like distress ink, then stamp onto it and cut out the stamped image that could count as being "coloured in".

I think if I absolutley had to choose a favorite then it would be the Twinkling H2O paints - so many pretty colours and the shimmer from the mica is lovely. While these are watercolour paints, they are very easy to use and can be surprisingly forgiving of mistakes. My only advice is if you have never used paints like that, but decide to give it a try then make sure you invest in GOOD paint brushes - they are not expensive, £2 - £3 will buy you a decent artists quality sable brush that WILL hold it's point - essential for stampers as we are often painting into some really tiny areas and need the brush to hold a fine point.

Phree, could you post me a link to these sheets you coloured. Have looked at your blog and cannot find them there, unless I am going blind as well as senile.

Can you recommend a make of brush Phree? I find no matter how great mine look to start with they always flatten out.

Hi Looby, you won't find those images on my blog - the stamps are exclusive to Guild members, tho they will be realeased for general sale at a later date, not sure when tho. I would have to ask Glenda if it is OK to post a piccy here or on my blog and will do that but as it's the weekend she may not see my mail till Monday.

This is where I bought my paint brushes Looby -

I bought a couple of Number 2 Round Brushes and a Number 10 Flat brush. One of the round brushes and the flat brush are made of Sable and the other round is a Sable blend - I am finding I prefer the pure sable. Service from this site was excellent and I would highly recommend this lady's hand made brushes.

I missed that bit. Well done Phree. I wish I could colour in as nicely. Thanks for the tips though. It's interesting that the H2O's are your favourite, I've never been able to get on with them. I wonder if it could be the brushes I'm using as they ae only cheap ones. If you ever make it down here you will have to give me a lesson!

Oh, well done, Phree!!! Does this mean that you are now on the Graphicus Design Team (or whatever it is that they call it)? I can only imagine how thrilled you must be to have had your great talent recognised by your absolute hero and mentor.

Methinks this is a very suitable topic for a workshop topic

Me too LL but I have spent enough for a while, stocking up on all the basics. Currently - oh at last, deepest joy - scrapbooking the childhoods of my sons. Two 12"x12" books of sweet memories and some pain as we are no longer the happy family of four that shines out form the pictures. But who says the camera does not lie.

I am now appreciating how gifted Phree is! Where have I been.
