Card swap group run by Artysam

Hi,

We only have a couple of birthdays left in this group and I was wondering if the group was carrying on when it would be due to restart in September. I've been part of it from the beginning but wondered if it was discussed when I left for a while.

I enjoy being part of it and would like to stay in if it is continuing, but haven't seen Sam around the forum which is a shame.

Did we come to an conclusion about this card swap list? I only ask as I am terrible at remembering things so there may well have already been a thread where something was decided but if not then I would be happy to pm artysam to see if she wants to continue running the swap If not I am happy to do so if we still have enough people wanting it Can you let me know what you think please (if it ha already been sorted out just let me know)

Hi Sugarplum, I would say go for it, do as you suggested and send Sam a PM to see if she is still wanting to run her group and if you don't hear from here then I guess we have to assume she is too busy with other stuff in her life right now and it would be good to have a voluteer such as yourself willing to step in an fill the gap.

I agree with Phree and would be more than happy for you to take over the running of the group Sugarplum if Sam is not in a position to do so anymore. Sorry I couldn't offer to do it myself but the way things are at the moment in my personal life I wouldn't be able to. I would however, love to remain part of the group as it is such good fun. :cake:

Thanks for your generous offer to run the group SP - I was wondering as much myself. I PM'd Sam a few months back about doing the FLAP swap so I'm sure she won't mind your offer. I'm guessing sadly that whatever's going on in her life ATM is still causing chaos.

I think Sugarplum is just trying to find out if Artysam our original lady who ran the swap group still wants to organise it and if not she is willing to run it herself. We'll keep an eye on this thread for when we are in a position to restart. The card swaps are great fun.

This thread is about a birthday swap group.

We do run regular monthly swaps along set themes which our lovely Rainbowwand organises. Keep an eye out for her next request for people to join in which should be any day now as August is almost over. It will likely be called 'September Card Swap Theme'. Just put your name down for that, and in a few days Rainbowwand will sort out who is sending to who.

Also there are ATC swaps and FLAP swaps, look out for them in the appropriate group.

It might be easier to join in gradually this way than to commit yourself to several cards right off the bat.

Also I think the last time a birthday group had an opening there were more people than places so they might still be wanting to join one.

Just to update you I have still not received any reply from Artysam Therefor I will take the decision to caretake the swap until such times as Sam resumes or is happy to hand over
As Sandra has already said she wants to withdraw and Looby asked to join first then I wil take Looby as a replacement for Sandra. I will pm everyone else on the swap list to see who is stayingoor leaving once I know if there are any spaces I can open it up (cardees if you still want to join you are top of the list)
So those on the list expect a pm shortly

Sugarplum, thank you for stepping in to the gap. I am going to say this however - until we hear otherwise this is now your group. We don't know why Sam has not been around nor if she will reappear. Worrying as that may be, the 3rd Birthday Swap group would have fallen by the wayside without a volunteer to take it on. So as far I am concerned this is now your group. If Sam returns at some future point then it's YOUR choice about whether or not you offer to hand the group back over to her. Whatever you decide will have my full support.

Looby is correct about there having been a few names I had to turn away from the 2nd Birthday swap group earlier this year - we had reached what we felt was a big enough size - too big and the committment to the group can seem daunting and take away some of the fun - so I did have to refuse a couple of folks. I will say that those individuals were very understanding about that - there was no unpleasantness or anything like that - it was simply about trying to keep the group size to a number that was reasonable for those who were a part of it while at the same time trying to give as many forum members as possible a chance to be in at least one of our birthday swaps.

Hi Cardees and a warm welcome to the forum from me.

LoobyLou has perhaps given you some good advice about our swaps. The Birthday swaps are a committment for a full year, whereas Rainbowwand's "Monthly Card Swap" is a one of swap - you commit to make a single card for that monthy only. You are free to sign up for Rainbowwands swap each month, or to choose not to join-in on any particular month if you know that the coming month is a busy one for you in other ways. For someone new that can be a better way to sort of dip your toe in the water with our swaps and see how things go.

So far every one that has got back to me (5)wants to remain in the swap so no vacancies as yet If any gaps do appear then it would be nice to allow anyone who isnt already part of an existing swap a chance

I think the decision to keep each individual group to a manageable size is the right one - if some people decide they can keep up with another group membership as well, then that is their choice.

I think that Marzipan was considering the possibility of starting a 4th group, so perhaps if there aren't enough vacancies, that may be an option if there are several folks who would like to join a birthday swap?
