View Full Version : Craft bargain thread on ST
SCW's craft bargain thread has now been closed on shoppingtelly. It has a post at the bottom saying 'Any craft bargains should be posted over on www.crafttelly.com/forum
THREAD CLOSED'
A bit silly IMO as it is QVC after all!!!!!!

Some crafters will miss any bargains as they may not be registered over here which is a shame.
I've posted over there to ask why. Very silly IMO.
Well, unless people have different user names on ST vs CT, there are quite a few peeps on ST.com with an interest in craft who don't join in on here. Nevermind Ian, all the more bargains for us over here and we all appreciate the time you take to keep us all updated on both bargains and new items.
I agree Dips Ian does a great job, thanks Ian.
The reply I've received is 'Crafttelly is our Craft site so it makes more sense for the items to be listed on there' and I did say not to use the crafttelly site as an excuse (because that's what I think it is)!
The threads been closed again so no right of reply!

I just lurked ST to see what you meant Pam...While not being nasty, I thought both posts were a little blunt to say the least.
May have been a bit less harsh to say something like 'While we appreciate the work SCW puts into posting this list we think it's more appropriate that the list now only appears on our dedicated craft forum, Craft Telly & will now be closing down this thread'
To then shut close down a thread asking for an explaination seems a little nawty...

Pam, it is not an excuse to say we have CraftTelly.com for Craft because that is exactly what it is. I don't see the point in having a dedicated Crafting site if we don't push and promote it as much as possible. Obviously Craft threads will still be posted on ShoppingTelly.com, but I think that long lists belong here on CraftTelly.com.
Ian does a great job and hope he will continue them here and it will encorage more crafters to join this forum.

Thank you for clarifying it for us Graham :)
Thanks, Graham. Can I suggest a compromise that may achieve more of what you want (ie crafty folk joining in this forum as well as ST). Why not create a sticky thread in QVC that links to the Crafty Bargain thread on here? It could be at the end of Ian's existing thread (thereby giving new members a taste of what they are missing) and just stating that all updates can be read at "this Link" on CT?
Thanks Graham.
I have to say that I still don't agree!
Dedicated crafters aren't the only ones who buy craft stuff.
Unlike most of us crafters I always log onto Shoppingtelly first so may miss the good bargains. Selfish maybe - I don't know. lol
As you can see I feel very strongly about this!
Sorry.

Shopping channels sell craft stuff...... ergo Craft is relevant to a forum which proclaims itself to be about television shopping. To exclude any product category from ST is to limit what ST can do for people in terms of keeping them informed and empowering them to discuss issues pertaining to their shopping experience.
Not everyone has the time to subscribe to both forums and there may be crafters on ST who have chosen to limit their involvement to that one forum only. Not an unreasonable choice IMHO as ST is a hugely active forum and keeping tabs on it's varied posts on a regular basis is no mean feat. I can fully understand why some crafters may opt to stay out of CT in an effort to ensure they don't get so involved in online things they run out of time to actually do any crafting!. Sorry Graham, I am with Pam on this one and think that removing SCW's threads from ST simply diminishes that forum at very little benefit to this one.
