I don't know how many people out there still use the sizzix original but there seems to be a little bit of an issue with Spellbinders dies compatibility. I've had quite a drawn out email discussion with someone who had bought an S5 spacer plate to use with her Sizzix original and Spellbinders in the US. She didn't buy it from us as it happens but she asked for our help and I'm a nice person
The Spellbinders compatibility guide states that you need to use the 004 spacer plate with the Sizzix original. Unfortunately the 004 spacer plate no longer exists and has been replaced by the 017 S5 spacer plate. Unfortunately Sizzix haven't updated their compatibaility guide to reflect this. Also, as was pointed out to me by the lady with the problem, the S5 spacer plate is too wide to fit through the Original machine. I thought this was a bit odd so queired with Spellbinders and yes, you do have to use the 017 S5 spacer plate and yes it is too wide for the machine so you have to trim it down to size! It would be nice if this information was relayed via the compatibility guide but I will certainly be adding it to the Spellbinders section of the website.
And if anyone wants to buy an S5 spacer plate to use in a Sizzix Original machine, if they let me know I will trim it to size free of charge.
