I rather think that someone has been reading the web site from Create & Craft, all Steph. kept on about was people waiting for reduced prices in the extravaganza hours. She was also sure that the 4 day deal would not be 'flogged off'.

I have to admit that you do not get that many items in a QVC package at that good a price with no p&P. Unfortunately C&C do not do 'kits' from the likes of K & Co, DVWV Anna Griffin etc. If they did I am sure that they would sell a lot more.:rolleyes:

Lol, Prudence, either great minds think alike or fools seldom differ, as I just compared tonights POD vs QVCs TSV. I admit that QVC TSVs are a bit more (I think closer to £40 when postage is added) but for that you get a branded, modern, quality item. I liked tonights POD but it was not worth £30 to me. No amount of harranging from Steph will make me think it is (but I like it enough to buy it at a lower price);)

Some valid points Prudence and Dips. I would put these MIC kits on par with Papermania. If fact haven't PM had some embossed stickers and ribbons identical to some that have previously been in these MIC kits?

I think the kits aren't bad value really especially when you consider the free P&P and club discount. I would never buy a kit all to myself though, there is just too much in them. I have split them with 2 friends before and we still get loads and for just £9ish

I was so angry watching SW last night - it made it sound like we all deliberatly waited for Extravaganza prices - well IW started this nonsense by putting POTD's at discount prices a week after the full POTD price.

All this "we don't have as much stock this time" rubbish just meant 'we haven't bought as much so we won't have to flog it at a later date" - although I don't believe SW at all, or why would it be a 4 Day Deal?

I thought this kit was not that different from the previous ones and IW are on to a good earner here and they know it. Stephanie's hard sell it starting to wear very thin - I don't believe a word that comes out that woman's mouth. As for Queen of Craft - don't make me laugh she's just a saleswoman now!!

Yesterday I was quibbling over I should pay £4 for a stamp that is about £8 everywhere else. This says, 'I don't have very much money and have enough craft things to last a lifetime.' If Ideal World want to show 72 hours of craft they have to realise have to be so good to tempt us into making purchases that most of us don't actually need. I would never buy the current 4 day deal at any price because I can't think of one person I could make a card for out of that kit let alone about 40. Sometimes when I've liked just part of a kit I've picked them up later at a craft fair. I only buy kits where I think I'm going to get full value out of them for a variety of occasions - and yes I will pay full price for them.

Ideal World are just annoyed because they thought they could suck all of us crafters dry. Well, they can't as we have neither the money nor the space!

Great thread, everyone. ROC, that was such a valid point about the whole extravaganza thing: it was when I was done by the first of these that I really started to go off IW. How that woman dares stand there and lecture us like that beggars belief. I've also noticed recently how much C&C are infiltrating my local craft shops - I dread to think of them stifling the creativity out of them as well.

Have you also noticed how many of their prices are not the great bargains they try to make out? I know I've mentioned it before, but consider the famous sticky dots scenario. QVC £11.55 + £2 something P&P, but now that they've "come home", as they call it, they're £14.99 + £4.90! So much for the buying power of Ideal World.

I know they read the forum, but I wish to goodness they would take some of the issues on board - we might have more respect for them if they did.

QVC's lst 17 hours and that is enoug and they only do 15 minutes TSV slots not 2 hour POTD slots - all too tedious!

I to have noticed that the two main craft shops I use locally have started selling C & C items, mostly decoupage and it looks very cheap. I shall not be buying. As for I.W. I haven't bought from them since end of 2005, because the last item I ordered was damaged in the post as it was very poorly wrapped and it took over 6 months to get a refund.

It is also worth mentioning, Steph is being very, very careful about what she says. She actually has not said that the POD won't be sold cheaper later on, which is a firm price commitment, which would mean that IW fall foul of the ASA if it did later go down in price.

Also, I know enough about promotional pricing strategies to know that IW would have planned the migration from POD pricing to extravaganza pricing - believe me, these big kits that go into the extravanza shows, they are not a few excess kits lying at the back of the warehouse, these are planned promotions for which IW has bought in dedicated stock.

I didn't actually see the shows last night, but have been watching this afternoon, and it looked as though Steph had toned down her comments about the extravaganza shows?

Agree with ROC that it's the channel's own fault for reducing stuff so quickly previously - people aren't daft

Well, she's mentioned the Extravaganza thing three times in this hour, saying it won't be in one: she's been to talk to the senior merchandiser to confirm this: she even mentioned the six week thing - which she either got on here or because that is their usual policy. I'm with ROC, wouldn't trust a word she says.

Well, I've just caught the 7pm show and have just heard Steph state catagorically that (1) it won't be in an extravaganza show and (2) it will not be back this year. Bold claims. Let's wait and see.

They shoudnt have stung us all in the first place. I odered a few POTD & POTWs expecting it was like a TSV only to find it much cheaper just over 30 days later. I posted on here how angry I was at the time,as have many others.
So yes I do wait now before ordering so I dont get stung again.
I did order the christmas fabic kit at full price because I like using fabric on cards.I noticed last night it was on the Extravaganza show but still at the POTD price !!!!!!

Yes but did you noticed that they put the previous price as something like £70! Clearly very dubious trading, cos of course it woulod've been out of stock at this price and brought back at the POTD price for the Extravaganza -proof of what Dips said early, they plan to sell stock later!

By they way can I say what is Stephanie on about regarding larger images - or do my eyes decive me - they look exactly like the last kit:eek:

I'm sure that they will have an electronic record of 1 unit being for sale on their website at the higher price for, oh, let me guess, say, 30 days before the Extravaganza show;). Oh, and that would slip just inside the law on price comparrisons......

I wondered that I got my invoice out to check what I paid and it was the same

Must admit a bit of glitter added to the usual flower cards didnt tempt me and yes thought the size looked to same but tbf TV can be deceptive. It isnt a kit I would buy as Stephanie said she only buys something if she can think of 3 reasons to buy it. I couldnt think of 1

I've now learnt to wait until the items I want come up on an Extravaganza show. I'm fed up of being taken for a mug.
Must say I completely missed the mention of the "six week thing" both on here & IW - what is it please?

Look, I am absolutely no fan of IW/CAC, but I'm afraid that the comment made about IW being on the way out has absolutely no basis in fact, as even the most cursory review of their P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow will testify to. This business is both profitable and cash-rich. More to the point, Craft is the second largest cash generator for them, and from looking at their customer database and recency, frequency, monetary value figures in their Annual report, I would suspect that it is (a) the catagory that has the highest level of repeat purchase customer, well above their average and (b) probably has a much lower returns rate than their 14% average. In summary, for IW, Craft=Orders=Profit, it is as simple as that.

I seem to remember being told that some kits turn up because they have been returned. I guess it will depend on numbers, if there are enough they might turn up again, if low then they may end up at Pondskippers or somewhere like that.
