...and by novice I mean the last time I did it it was blanket stitch with my nan 30-odd years ago.
This still remains the case as this techinically isn't for me. My SIL likes knitting. Or at least she did, I'm nor sure she's done much for a few months after going a bit nuts & knitting a variety of jumpers & hats for the kids. I blaim it on ruddy Farmville myself
I know she enjoyed it when she was doing it, & I was wondering about getting her a book for Christmas to maybe give her a gentle push back into it again. A sort of knitting guide - say like this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Compendium-Knitting-Techniques-Betty-Barnden/dp/1844484068/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1260358017&sr=8-1) one.
I couldn't tell you what her technical level is like, but I thought a sort of knitting encyclopedia might be useful - any recommendations? I didn't want to get something too basic, but I thought she might like to find out about more complex stitches (or what ever)
MTIA :)
