Soap and card making

I saw a bit of Dawn Bibby's show this afternoon and Claire Sutton picked up a tablet of soap wondering what it was doing there. Dawn tried very hard not to snap back at her, but it was clear the poor woman had not got a clue about card making and using the soap to make the embossing tool glide more easily over the paper.

Surely it would make sense for QVC to properly brief their staff so that they aren't embarassed on air.

I didn't think Dawn was snappy with her at all and I didn't think Claire seemed embarrassed, and whilst it's important that the presenter knows about the items on air, there probably isn't the time to go through all the techniques that are going to be used.

Possibly Claire was annoyed with herself for making an error when she felt she have known what the soap was for and should have asked Dawn off camera. She was a bit pink but recovered very quickly.

Ahhh, but was it L'Occitane, seems to be the only soap QVC presenters tolerate.

I'd personally just prefer it if the presenters wouldn't behave as if if they've never seen a product before DB has picked it up for the camera. Alternatively, if it's a genuine surprise, then I'd like them to be marginally more professional & take the time to look at the products they're about to try & flog at us :D
