I am severely cheesed off with ebay today

They announced (yet more ) radical new changes last week, but it has taken until today for them to answer a simple question.

Anyway, the upshot is that it won't be possible to list any items on buy it now for less than 99p on ebay (http://forums.ebay.co.uk/thread.jspa?threadID=1200238808&start=214) when the new fee structure comes into effect (24 September) - which will devastate the thriving craft and beading categories.

So - if you like buying craft / beady stuff on ebay, be aware that shortly you may not be able to pick and choose the items that you want in the way that you can now :( Not on ebay, anyway

Sellers can list items in their shops now for a 90 day period, so that may soften the impact a little. Big changes ahead though, and not for the better in terms of consumer choice.

I know that the changes will hit sellers who sell low cost items particularly badly, but if you sell anything at less than £15.00 on BIN your fees will increase. I'm not really sure what ebay are trying to achieve. Edit: actually I do know what they're trying to achieve - bigger profits. :(

Well, I will certainly think seriously before listing anything else in future. For me, final listing fees will have risen from by between 2.4% and 5.4%, once you add in paypal fees, there's almost nothing to be made. Thank God I'm not in the dire straights I was in a year ago when the little bit I made on Ebay made the most enormous difference. It's a shame for me as a seller but also me as a buyer, as I know it will be much harder to find a bargain.

Apparently in the US they are restricting payment methods even more, basically pushing everyone towards using PayPal, all in the interest of customer safety you understand.... nothing to do with profits ;-)
