View Full Version : How much would you pay for a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder ?

I saw this on e-bay a few days ago - it's a divine folder and I would love to have one but............I knew there was no way I was going to be bidding as I could see a price war had already started. However I couldn't resist adding it to my watched items - just to see how insane the bidding would go.

Unbeleivable final price for a wee bit of plastic ;)

ouch - paid £8 for one once (the xmas tree that they discontinued then brought back) but it was as a gift for my Mum who desperately wanted it.

You would have to be bonkers to pay that!

Some people get some sort of bidding fever on ebay and pay way over the odds for stuff. Its crazy

it is rather lovely though............

Good lord. Course when an ebay seller says 'rare' I usually look to see how many of the same rare items there are for sale and it's usually quite high. Wouldn't pay that price for one though unless I desperately wanted it and I knew it was no longer going to be manufactured.

I think the folder is lovely - but you'd have to be insane (and I'm completely potty) to pay that sort of money!!!!

wow what a beautiful folder, wouldn't pay over the norm for one though, is it going to be released her for the winter?
I have the tree one and have barely used it

ebay is madness. We sell items on ebay and with each purchase we send out a flyer adversting the website and the free postage (all ebay purchasers pay P&P as that covers the ebay fees). But we often get people who go back on ebay and buy more stuff and pay postage when they could buy the same items from the website at the same price or cheaper and pay no P&P. As I say, it's madness and I really struggle to understand it

I have to say though the folder is beautiful, and I would be tempted to pay over the odds, sad I know, but if I really wanted something, and thought i would get a lot of use out of it, then its worth it in my eyes.

I used to find exactly the same thing, Rich  I haven't sold much on ebay though for the past year and don't envisage doing much in the foreseeable future. I have much more productive uses for my time than keeping up with the constant chopping and changing of policies that goes on there!

I do find however that Amazon customers are much more willing to jump ship

Yep, I would have paid over the odds for that folder too as it's stunning! From what I can make out it is from a limited editon collection called Winter Wonderland, probably never released here in the UK. Not sure if it's supposed to commemorate the Vancouver Winter Olympics or something - the seller was bubbling some nonsense about that in her sales pitch.

So like blarf has done for what was at the time a discontinued design I would have paid £8 and maybe even a little more, but over £17? Not in this life !!! ;)

Rich if you EVER hear that the "flurry" design is being re-released let us know - I suspect it would sell like hotcakes as it's probably the nicest "winter" theme Cuttlebug folder I have ever seen.

I will Phree, we have a few good contacts in the states. We're in a funny situation at the moment selling limited edition Kars folders to the Americans. These folders are made in China, get sent to America, who send them to Holland, who send them to us and we send them back to America. They must have a Huuuuuuuuuuge carbon footprint

Talking of mad ebayers, I had a load of cuttlebug dies i put up that finished tonight, one buyer was obsessed with buying virtually everything, and got bid up to £9.50 for a 3x3 die!!!! along with £7.50's etc, Im happy, just hope he pays, but its the example of people getting carried away.

Nice result :)

You were spot on with your earlier comment as well, anything is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and not what the rest of us value it at.

Wins, I wish we could dump ebay, for a start we'd have much more time to ourselves as we wouldn't be answering all the idiotic questions we get. I like it here, a much higher caliber of crafter :D

Well i like that flurries folder a little too much, and after a lot of research have managed to track it down for a reasonable amount, from a shop in the states, only problem is i need to buy lots more to make the postage viable!! haha ....

any excuse to spend lots of money I suppose

It's included in a bundle that's due out in May.
The bundle is called Winter Wonderland and has 6 embossing folders all Christmas themed. I've found the bundle for pre order for $21 (not including p&p). Nothing to do with the Winter Olympics at all and though it's not widely available to buy at the moment, it's definetly not rare, especially as the seller in question has another one listed!!

I will be looking to buy it in May, especially if there are some other lovely folders in the bundle

The attraction of ebay for me is that Quidco pay out on it and I just use it like a shop and go for buy it now stuff after comparing prices elsewhere. Saying that I have had some great bargains from crafters selling their stash off in bulk.

I kinda thought that set would show up in the UK when I first stared this thread...... bet our foolish ebayer feels pretty sick when they see how much they paid over the odds for that folder. I have some overtime coming up at the end of June/early July so I may just earmark some of it to treat myself to that set of folders.
