I was wondering if anyone already owned this particular card & box scoring board. (It's the purple plastic one!)
I have a friend who's into jewellery making & would like to start paper crafting too so I've bought her one of these for her birthday. I want to give it to her with everything she needs to get started, adhesive, embellishments & most of all lots of card from my impossibly large stash. :D To make things simple I'd like to cut all the card up for her so it's the right size as she doesn't have a paper trimmer & I can't stretch to including one as part of her present. The trouble is without unsealing the box I'm not sure what the right size would be!:o Obviously she'll want A4 & A5 for cards, but I think it's mostly boxmaking she'll be doing (to make boxes for the jewellery she already makes) & I'm not sure about that. The box maker I have just needs you to have two pieces the same size, it doesn't matter what that is, & I wondered if this was the same.
I'm sorry if this seems a silly question, but I only have experience of my own boxmaking board. :o I know I could just put A5 in & be done with it, but I have some patterned square card that she's admired in the past & I'd really like to put some in the parcel for her if she could use it!:)

I've just found it on CraftyOne's web site 'That's Crafty'. Perhaps she'll see your thread and will be able to answer this for you.
I don't have this particular scoring board, and I've never made a box, but just wanted to say what a wonderfully generous friend you are. I'm sure your friend will love her pressies. :)

I can't really help with the box making board cuz I have a different one. However what may be helpful to know is this :
Not all papertrimmers cost a lot so perhaps your freind could get her own. When I started crafting I was already familiar with the Dahl Rotary Trimmers which I had used a lot in an office I worked in - so I was a bit put off by the slightly "cheap plastic" look of the Provocraft trimmer which I was given to use at Card Making classes which I went to at my local craft shop. However looks can be deceiving!
I found that little trimmer to be pretty effective and quite easy to use. It's not expensive - under a tenner so I would highly recommend it as a good buy for a newbie who needs a cutter, but also needs so much other stuff they can't afford to buy a really expensive one at first.
Here is one I found online at Artymiss - first site I looked at, there may be other sites with better deals on offer but this lets you see the trimmer I am talking about :
http://www.artymiss.co.uk/acatalog/Provocraft_Zision_Paper_Trimmer.html
I also found this deal on eBay - bliddy good price even with shipping and the seller's feedback makes him look like he is reliable, so if your freind buys on ebay perhaps you could point her at this:

Or there is the cheapest alternative of all - a decent craft knife and a steel ruler, which could be enough to get her started.
Hope this helps.

I know that the instructions for the box maker section on my CC Ultimate just call for 2 pieces of card the same size, so maybe this is standard for all box maker boards?

Thanks everybody for you help, & for your kind words Anne.:)
Hopefully you're right Welly about it being the same as our two boxmakers & just needing two pieces the same size. I'll put some of the card she liked in anyway & she can always use it for accents & matting & layering if I'm wrong, especially if she picks up one of those very reasonably priced trimmers!
(My boyfriend says not to stress as "she's got scissors, hasn't she?" Bless!)

I did a big box set of bits for my Mum when she started out cardmaking and I know she was really pleased with hers, bits of paper for matting and layering came in especially helpful.
Not sure if you want to point your friend in the direction of Lidls (if she has one near her) as I've just been to mine and they have the paper trimmer/guillotine back in stock for just £9.99.
Be warned though, it's a bit of a beast sizewise

I officially have too much craft stuff. It's taken me THREE HOURS to go through it all to make up this starter kit & that's just for the paper & embellishments! :o
Thanks Diana, we do actually have a Lidl near us so I'll mention it. A bigger trimmer is always better than a smaller one anyway. When I started I wish I'd just bought a 12" trimmer straight off. It would have saved time & money.

Aldi have a paper trimmer on offer tomorrow (Sun 7 Sept) for £6.99
I cannot tell how big it is or whether you can buy replacement blades easily
