I started stamping many moons ago then didn't do it for a while or just dabbled in it. I have seen cards using bleach an the results look lovely. I saw a lady doing it on create and craft ( Jenny I think) using a water brush filled with it. Can anyone tell me is it just straight bleach used for this and if anyone has any tips I'd really appreciate it. i.e ink pads, thick or thin bleach diluted or straight. I have never used this method before. Sorry if this is a daft question

Oo Pamela there was a bleach themed swap on here recently, so advice will be on it's way!

I used neat bleach, the runny cheap sort in a cheapo waterbrush, which I marked as containing bleach cos I have a tendency to suck the end of a paintbrush whilst cogitating! Could have been a disaster, or not depending on how you view me, LMAO

Anyhow neat bleach works a treat. I stamped first and then embossed so that the bleach would stay inside the lines and you just apply it gently. You can always go back and add more if you don't get the desired effect the first time.

With the card I did I used glimmer mists to colour the background, stamped a floral pattern, embossed, and finally bleached. I know some others used a technique that was in Craft Stamper a couple of months back too.

just cheap thin bleach Pamela, no domestos here!

saw a woman in the supermarket at the weekend with a full blown dark brown moustache, better than my OH could ever grow, kids couldn't take their eyes off her! Felt like handing her a packet of facial wax strips!

Haven't tried it yet myself - but I know what you mean about Jenny Meyes' demo the other day. I gather another handy tip (gleaned from amongst other sources, Barbara Grey), is to test the card/paper you're working on as well, particularly if it's coloured card to see how the card/paper reacts IYSWIM

Tru-ella why oh why do women not get rid of facial hair I end up talking to the moustache as I can't take my eyes off it. I used to work in a place where one of the men had loads of ear and nose hair it made me retch looking at it.

Anyway hair aside thanks for the tips and Wellington thanks I know what you mean about testing the coloured card. Better watch my cat isn't about when I have the bleach out she loves the smell of it, when I wash the floors she roles about all excited. Although she could just be celebrating that the floor is clean, I hadn't thought of that:wonder:

Work with a window open - bleach vapours are not really the best thing to be inhaling. As said already test a scrap of card first to see how it reacts with the bleach - and don't give up after just one application - I have had black card that bleaches down quite nicely to a pale gold but it takes 4 to 5 coats of bleach to get there - first application leaves it kinda tea stain brown.
