Is the Kars embossing mat the right thing to buy if you want to emboss brass stencils in your Cuttlebug? I seem to recall posts in the past about Cuttlebugs getting broken when people try to put the wrong combination of stuff thru them and I don't want to break mine.

My friend was very annoyed with Oyster Stamps. We went to a craft show in February and she bought the embossing mat there(from Oyster),it cost her £10.I then bought it from the website for £5.She emailed and asked why there was such a price difference, the reply was because there is a minimum spend on the website of £10 that is the price they charged at the show.I remember I did have to make my order up to £10 but they didn`t offer my friend a goodwill gesture,I thought that was really bad.

Hi Jan, my embossing mat from Kars arrived yesterday. According to Kars the correct "sandwich" for using with brass stencils is as follows :
From Bottom up :
A Plate
C Plate
Your Stencil
Paper/Card
Rubber Mat
B Plate.
I am assuming the same "sandwich" will work for other rubber mats.
One other point, Kars recommend you don't line up the leading edge of all the mats so that they are exactly flush, but stagger them a little (like steps) and they will feed more easily into the cuttlebug. I have not tried mine yet, will let you know how I get on.
Thanks Phree I will be interested to see how you get on. I have loads of brass stencils it would be good to have a fast way of using them

There are loads of "recipes" for the sandwiches on You Tube.
There are also a couple for using the solid Fiskars embossing plates.
I couldn't figure out the embossing sandwich for the Wizard plates, that's there too.
Just do a search and have fun......

Oh! I had forgotten this thread was here, regarding the Kars matt, I haven't used it yet because I have read on another forum that the mat has been blamed by more than one person for the demise of their Cuttlebug! Apparently the Oyster mat or the Wizard Tan mat are both save to use with the bug, so I think I will get one of those rather than taking chances.
