Did some quickie cards yesterday. Just using some Flower Fairy freebie tags which came with the March issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft.
I was also having a bit of a try of my new Funky Hand CD Rom - paper from that.
Cards were just ones I had in stock.
Was also seeing how quickly our new computer downloaded pics from my camera....much quicker! :clapping:

Ooh, lovely, Juliet! I particularly like the 'rosette effect' of the ribbon tags on the flower on the first card & having seen these cards, I am even more determined to conquer my 'ribbon difficulties' & get them looking really neat......like yours! lol
(I think I am trying too hard & putting too much tape etc. on, so they look all stiff & unnatural! Yours look great, very professional!)

JanTheNan - I just like the pics thought they were quite sweet. It's rare I use any mag freebies! Get your tags out!!!

Oh gosh kwc......don't think 'professional' is quite the word I would use but thank you for putting it in there!!! I have a few tags left so have been running a few other ideas in my head on how to use them! (as you do) I've never made any cards with paper from a CD Rom which I have printed out so I was really thrilled with them.

How lovely are those! colours really nice, especially like the deeper purple colour. I think I would have to keep one of those tags for myself - I'm too mean lol

Don't be silly Juliet, they're really lovely!! I find it endlessly fascinating looking at other crafter's cards as I so often find myself thinking 'It would never have occured to me to use that embellishment (or whatever) in that way". The backing papers are great and you are very good for using your freebies  What I particularly like is that you have combined the more traditional Flower Fairy tags with the more contemporary papers and it works really well. I agree with Kitten, too, that the rosette effect with the ribbon is a very nice touch  xx

Kitten - I know what you mean about the ribbon getting a bit pulled out of shape if you use too much double sided tape (especially with the ribbed ribbons like grosgrain) so, what I tend to do, is attach the ribbon to the back of the card with a small piece of double sided tape, then run in over the spine and across the front on the card, pull it tight, and then attach it to the front inside of the card with sellotape or silicon glue. I then cut another card blank in two, shave a little off the height and width, and stick that on the inside of the front of the card, to cover the end of the ribbon. If the ribbon requires a bit more anchoring I use very small pieces of double sided tape, dotted along it's length. Alternatively, I wrap it around my mats and sellotape it on the back of the mat, then stick that to the card with double sided tape. Apologies for long winded description, hope it makes sense!! xx

Thanks IMP, yes, that does make sense - I think it was Looby said about the extra matting too? Ribbons seem to be my bete noir & I have a big box full so want to use them all more effectively......& tidily! lol
I struggle especially with the organza ones but they're going onto a card, not into space, so I must stop attempting to anchor them down with enough tape etc. to withstand an F5 tornado & use a 'lighter' touch in attaching them! lol)

Juliet - sorry but having seen the pics, I have to confess that I will absolutely be blatantly copying that flower 'rosette' idea......! :cool2:

They are lovely cards Juliet. I have those tags too, but not used them yet. I was just thinking yesterday that after I move, I really must see what I can make using freebies I have got with magazines. I gave a lot to my daughter recently for the grandchildren to use, but I kept a lot too. I have quite a collection of Making Cards magazines with the beautiful papers still inside. When I first started crafting I used to use them as soon as they came, but didn't have much stash back then. I am also getting quite a collection of free stamps from the craft stamper magazine. Seeing what you have done, has inspired me to do something with them. I think what I will do is set myself a challenge to make at least one card every week using freebies. Maybe combining them with other stash, or just making something from the freebies. They wouldn't cost me much, and I could give them all to charity to do a bit of good for someone.

Thanks for sharing you cards Juliet!

I agree Imp I love peeps posting cards whether they are just a beginner or on another level (now where have I heard that before???) and yes it does give inspiration!

Awwwww fab sending you a hug! When I read 'juliet will you stop it' I thought that's it no more card posting but then I had a sigh of relief as I read on!!! Fab I'm pleased you commented on the colours co-ordination as that is something I have stuggled with in the past. That is what I like about card making CD Roms you have so many colours to choose from.

kwc I feel honoured that my wee cards have inspired you to copy something from them  so you go ahead........only if you post it on here tho!

Juliet these cards are gorgeous. Don't you dare put yourself down!

I love the combinations of colours and each one of them was vibrant and fresh and a real treat for the eye.

As for anchoring ribbons. If I have a background mat (I usually add patterned paper on top of a plain card blank and that becomes my base), then I tuck the ribbon under the main mat and glue at the back and when that is anchored to the card blank it a) gives extra security to the ribbon fastening and b) hides the mess....... I do the same with brads and anything that needs to 'poke through' the card so that the mess of that is hidden between two layers, and always gives a bit of added security to keep it in place.

Thanks for sharing them Juliet. You've made great use of the tags. I never know what to to with things like that. I especially like the last one, it's really pretty.

Thanks for the comments looby. I used the tags too to anchor the ribbon!

Lynneh to be honest I find tags quite a difficult thing to work with. I think it's the shape! So I was pleased really with how I managed to make these cards look half decent!!!
