Made a quick card for my son today. Don't really know why I bothered cos he has an habit of opening cards and putting them into the bin! Any how, he has done so much work for me recently, it was the least I could do. I think it turned out ok to say how little it has cost, in both time and money!
The other card I did for my daughter last week, she loved it!

They're both lovely Budgie. The one for your daughter is so feminine. My DH is never that interested in cards either, so I tend to do quick ones for him too. Saying that, your's doesn't look like a quickie. I am sure he will love it in his own manly way. lol

I think the papers the Nancy Watts does for Making Cards are lovely, and that one was a perfect match for my sons card.

I think they are both great too
It's the youngest boy that bins cards here, which as he's the one who stayed with his mother (til she kicked him out at 16 - so he wouldn't impact on her benefits) makes it harder to do him a quickie, I try really hard to make him a part of US rather than an add-on, he's even got a present upstairs (under some of the fallen in roof I think) from his 18th; mind you he knows who bought it (his Uncles bide-in) and she buys naff presents

Lovely cards Budgie, thanks for posting them. I especially like the card for your son, I would find it quite difficult to come up with something appropriate and that looks just the ticket.
.......i'm still intrigued by the notion of quickie cards.

Some cards i make I spend ages thinking about what I am going to do, how to embellish etc. Whereas the one I did for my son, I wanted it to be nice, but knowing what he is like, I didn't want to put much effort into it. He usually doesn't even put his cards up, just opens them and throws into the bin! So this time, I found the paper, found a scrap of card that matches it perfectly. Stamped and coloured an image in matching colours on a die cut card, and stuck them together. It only took about half an hour, and that for me is a quickie card!

Lovely thought.

They're both great, Budgie, you have such similar taste to me in materials!! I can't believe that your son bins them without even displaying them, that's terrible!! I also can't believe that it only took you half an hour, there's no such thing as a quick card where I'm concerned, to say I was slow and ponderous...

lovely cards Budgie,
I know what you mean about your son binning cards. My OH won't bin them, loves to see me crafting but can't understand why i would want to give him one? My son, however loves the idea I have made one for him.

I have told him that I spent all morning (fibber!) making him a lovely card, and that if he puts it in the bin I will chop his legs off! He doesn't fancy that so he says he will put it up for a couple of days, but then it is going in the bin, cos he doesnt keep card!

Lovely cards, Budgie, & I love your threat to chop your son's legs off if he doesn't display it!
Perhaps you could train him to return the card to you rather than bin it so that it can be salvaged for parts? Actually, I think I would put a not too sturdily attached insert inside & then ask for it back rather than it being bin fodder. Then I would tug out the insert, replace it with another one & re-use the whole card for someone else! (I'm sorry, it's very naughty to suggest that I'm sure, but I'd just be so tempted to do it...)
