Hi Shortcake! You don't say what techniques you like or would like to try.

I think QVC TSVs usually offer the best value for money & are most comprehensive, but the last Papermania has been getting very mixed reviews, so maybe not! Check it out for yourself though. It's item number 586926. I can't comment as I still have loads of stuff from a very similar kit I bought last year so didn't buy this one.

I do have item number 585966 though & I would recommend that. (4 Christmas Albums w/ Paper,Cards, Die-cuts,Chipboard Stickers & Embellishments) I know it's focused on scrapbooking, but your post on shopping telly suggested that you were into that too so I don't feel bad suggesting it. Also I don't scrapbook at all, but I bought it anyway because the value was so good I can afford just to ignore the scrapbooks & only use the cardmaking bits. Besides, you can't beat something that comes with it's own cute storage box!

If you're looking for a bargain though they've got item number 584664. (30 Sheets Of Coloured Paper & Vellum, 20 Decoupage Sheets & 2 Stencils) At only£12.91 it really is a bargain & I've been severely tempted myself. You'd need to buy cards, but at that price you can afford to. I don't know if you have a light box to make the most of the stencils, but as there's vellum in the kit you could use the stencils with that fine even if you don't have one. You would need an embossing tool I suppose, but they're really inexpensive.

I do hope that's a little helpful...:)

Hi Shortcake, you don't say if you have any experience paper crafting or not. Even with a comprehensive kit that contains "everything" you probably won't find it really contains everything a complete newbie to card making needs. By that I mean a few basic tools such as a scissors, craft mat etc and then there will be the consumable items such as double sided sticky tape, sticky foam pads etc. So if you do buy a kit be prepared to spend a little extra on some of the other bits you might need. Other than that I think probably the best advice is to watch on QVC for a kit that you like, you want one that contains card blanks and envelopes as well as papers, diecuts etc for actually decorating the cards with.

I got 586926 - but I wouldn't recommend it to you, the card stock is so thin you wouldn't believe, I bought it for the rest which is great but I have a whole room of craft items and millions of card blanks so I ditched the ones in the kit.

I would hold on a bit there is bound to be another Xmas TSV soon - in fact 12 October TSV - Jolly Nation would be a perfect starter kit (if it is indeed Christmas).

Hi Shortcake :)

At the risk of going against the general grain ;) How about 137335 (http://www.createandcraft.com/Christmas_Glitter_Decoupage_137335.aspx?search=137 335) Christmas Glitter die cut decoupage kit from C&C (when they're offering free p&p tho)

Papermania have just launched their range of 'DIY' card kits. There's six different designs. Each pack costs £7.99 and makes 15 cards. It's basic stick it on the card stuff but they look like all the embellishments and cards and envelopes come with it. For a quick look they are on here

http://www.blueberrybarn.co.uk/acatalog/Christmas_DIY_Card_Kits.html

but also in the latest issue of Docrafts 'Creativity' magazine there are four pages of samples.

I've got 137335 (glitter christmas from create and craft) and it is very easy to put together justpop out the die cut decoupage and stick with foam pads (included) or silicone there are also sequins faux gems and sparkly ribbon included in the kit It has 36 cards and envelopes. Great for a beginner or even for a lazy crafter like me who wanted something quick and easy for christmas

I'd quite like to get the C&C Christmas Glitter kit, but I'd like it to be at a lower price :D At the very least under twenty squids :D If not more like 15 squids :D :D

We don't mention the fabric/shaker kit. Which I would also like to be cheaper. P-p-p-p-please...

What about this 586039 - brilliant value at £16.94, 25 designs x2 and comes in a nice box, ideal for a starter! It's Brenda Pinnick too, watch the video on QVC.

There's also this kit available from QVC

http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail/walk.yah.UKCO~UK73

it's bit more pricey than the others but I think it is similar to the Papermania ones I mention earlier. There is a hour of Papermania on QVC's Craft Day on 30th September plus other Christmas crafting so you may want to wait for another week or so to see if there any new kits. Also keep an eye on Supercoolwillow's new item thread on the QVC pages on this forum.
