Hi Everyone, Can anyone suggest a set of large numbers. I have a couple of landmark birtdays coming up this year (other peoples - I'm not going in for multiple birthdays :giggle:)

Not die cut but templates. I've got a couple of set of different style alphabets and they do numbers:

Not as easy to get a good result as with a die cut though so would be interested in a large alphabet, for cheque book style word cards myself

Like you I would like the crisp edge from a die. I'm sure one of the clever crafters on here will know of one.

Found these but they're not pocket money prices!

How big is "large"?

Thanks JanTheNan. I think this is the sort of price I may have to pay. This may be the thing that makes really look at getting a cricut as they seem to be made for numbers and letters.

How big is "large"?

Just not teeny really.

Letters about 2" high, 3" maximum. I get the feeling a whole alphabet set would be way beyond my budget

I got a set of wooden numbers from The Works a while back. They were really cheap and a bit under 2". Perhaps you could use acrylic paint on them or something? Or if you know someone with a cricut or craft robo they could cut out whatever paper you like in any size you like. Just ideas, but I'm giggling as I write because when I saw the title of your post I immediately thought - Quadrillion - that's a large number... (sorry)

Quadrillion? Pah! My googolplex trumps your quadrillion by a mile (quite a few miles actually! lol).....!
(Sorry, I know, off topic, won't happen again........*holds up hands & backs slowly out of thread!*)

Deleted as it went in the wrong place and didn't make any sense

We sell a number of die sets that include numbers. The larger Sizzix dies are good because they will also cut thicker materials like chipboard:

If it's just numbers and card then perhaps something like the Sizzix Decorative Strip Frosting Numbers would do:

Thank you - an abundance of ... err ... riches. I think the Frosting Numbers may be the right ones.

What about the Funky Hand Word Books CD ROM - has numbers too. Or has this been mentioned? I know it's not dies but could work, you could just cut out the numbers. They are big, about 4"

I mentioned plastic templates, the sort you draw around and then cut out. I've got some alphabet sets. Trouble is Gracesgran and I both want the sharper edge and finish of a die cut.

I am going to see if I can track down any samples using the Frosting Numbers, Craftycat, as I can't quite see how the "frosting" will look. I have often thought that a Cricut or similar might become a necessity and looking at the price of some of the number and alpha sets I can see I will need to think very hard about this. I do love my Cuttlebug though.

For the amount of use I would get out of any system I can't see £30 plus is a sensible option. So, will have to practice a lot more with my plastic, draw around templates.

I have had some good results but I am such a perfectionist!

Once I've mastered cutting with my Pazzles (had it six months now) I'll be well away.
As from this Friday husband and I will no longer be childminding our grandson as his Mummy finishes work awaiting the arrival of a second son in the last week of June.
I've been saving cereal boxes to practice on.

I also have a CB and love it.

Hi to all who gave me very helpful advice on numbers dies. I reached a very interesting conclusion on this and went for ... Crafters Companion Patchwork Numbers!!! Yes I know they are stamps but when I had bought the Patchwork Polly stamps (I don't have any Cute Companions) and I saw Jayne demonstrate these, using them for more sophisticated cards and for men's cards they seemed to cover what I needed.

Excellent Gracesgran, glad you're sorted.
