Just wondered if anyone else has received this? I read on another forum that people had got one but didn't know why they got it.

I received one yesterday and also don't know how they got my address!
I'm not really worried but thought it a bit strange.

it says Craftbuyer.com The Home of Crafty Bitz clearance.

It looks like there are a few fairly good bargains.

They are in Edmonton, London.

Meant to say I didn't really know where to put this. lol

I got one yesterday too Pam. I flicked through and it went straight in the bin. I did wonder where they got my details from though. Our details have obviously been passed on by someone.

Thanks Seraphina and Anne.

There's a logo of a van with Craftbuyer on it and it says free delivery on all orders over £35. Sounds stupid but the van logo looks familiar to me. Can't think where I've seen something similar before - Is it IW or C & C?

I got it too, but wasn't surprised as I get CraftyBitz trade mailings and had assumed it was linked to this. Sounds like some company has sold on our names!!! I thought that there were some good deals on there, especially the mix and match multibuys as it means you could get exactly what you wanted, especially if you share with a friend. I think it is all discontinued stock.

I got one too. I wonder if they had access to something like Lakeland or Readicut's mailing lists?

I believe that Lakeland never sell or rent their data, I suspect that it may be a craft magazine list.

That's interesting, I haven't had one of these.
I've ordered from Lakeland, Readicut,QVC and had lots of subscriptions to magazines in my time but never ordered from C&C so I wonder if it's them?
It sounds like the kind of thing they would do to make yet more money out of us!!!

Wasn't it last year when there was a mistake on the wording on one of the stickers from the Crafty bitz TSV? I seem to remember getting a replacement sheet of stickers/3d embellishments which I understood were sent directly from the suppliers. I assume that QVC would have sent the customers' names and addresses to the supplier so that we could get the bits directly from them (therefore at no extra cost to QVC).

I've just checked - that was back in October 2006! Now I'm curious........, how many of us bought Item Number 584641, Crafty Bitz Sticker & Embellishment Kit with 42 Cards & 25 Papers?

I bought that one. Had to search my QVC account with the item number as it only went back to the beginning of 2007 when I clicked for the previous pages.

If they did, they should have done so under the strict understanding that the data was to be used for that purpose only and then destroyed. There are very strict laws on use of data, quite apart from the fact that for QVC, their customer data is one of their biggest assets. If CraftyBitz have used QVC data, then they stand to be sued by QVC in the not to distant future.

I agree Dips.

I had better clarify that I am not saying that this is where the list was obtained. (I don't want to be sued for making an unfounded accusation as I have no idea where this company got my details from)

Like many others I don't know why I received a copy of this catalogue from a company that I have never heard of. I don't have junk mail and am very careful who I give my details to, and always tick the boxes which make sure that I don't receive info from other interested parties, hence the curiosity.

What's interesting, Lioness, is that when QVC sent CB that list, they would have undoubtedly put into it what is called "seed names" - pretend names that they are able to track, which is one of the ways that they are able to see if the data is used for purposes that it was not intended for. I wonder if Pam will get an answer!

It is possible that CB have either bought in or rented the data from a third party.

I didn't buy the kit or receive the catalogue so it looks like you may be right. I hope you get an answer.

I ordered the kit but didn't get it as, rather than wait for the cheque to arrive, QVC sold it to another customer. Grrrr.
So therefore CB wouldn't have got my details either, which could be why I didn't get this catalogue. Naughty!

I received a reply after following it up again. Here's part of it.

Thank you very much for the email. Sorry for the delay in replying, please note that your details were on a database that we bought about six months ago from a company called Lynton Business Services.

We have requested them to remove you from their database, we have also removed you from our database as well.

I bought the kit and received the brochure, I don't mind junk mail if it is craft related, considering the amount I get via e-mail this doesn't bother me.
