.... well almost :p

I decided I wanted to make my Christmas cards this year and plucked up the courage to go to a class at my local craft shop.

On Saturday afternoon I went to 'Christmas Cards I' and really enjoyed myself.

My first card, I learned how to use a rubber stamp and stick on some paper using studo tac.

My Second card, I learned how to emboss using a cuttlebug, colour in my stamps and matting and layering.

My final card, I learned to emboss using the heat gun.

And then we had to line the envelope to match.

My stamping is a bit smudged and my layering is a bit squint but I'm going to practice as I've booked into 'Chrismas Cards II' for next Thursday night - we're only making 2 cards then but they are going to be more advanced :D

Lovely cards, of which you should be very proud. Welcome to Crafttelly (but watch out, there are quite a few here who will tempt you into spending your pennies)!!!

I knew you'd have a great time! The cards are fab! At the classes run at our shop only two cards are made in a three hour session. Looking forward to seeing your advanced cards.

Welcome to the forum blueshowbizz and thanks for sharing the pictures of the cards you made at your class, they are lovely cards!. I got started in much the same way.

I had seen craft shows on various shopping channels on TV and got hooked so I signed up for some classes at a local craft shop and also bought a small starter kit from teh shop that contained enough materials to make 4 cards with. The rest, as they say is history. I do think doing some classes at a local shop is a great way to get started - it lets you try out products and you have an expert right there to help show you the best way to get good results and answer questions.

Hope you enjoy your next class on Thursday and do let us see pics of your makes.

Thanks everyone :D

I bought a few basics after my class at the weekend - stamp pads, cutting mat, double sided tape, pens and a box of 'pick and mix' papers and cards.

I'm looking forward to my next class, then the hard work begins

I think I'm going to find it very difficult to chose a design for my cards. I've watched a few QVC shows and I'm going to record most of craft day to get some inspiration. Hopefully one design or colour theme will jump out at me :D

Don't dwell too much on a 'design' for your cards - just have a play & see what happens :D I think a lot of us find that we have an idea for a card & as we start to make it we make little twiddles to the colours & materials.

The danger is in trying out new techniques - I found I started slowly with some peel offs & before long I couldn't wait to try some decoupage, stamping, embossing, iris folding, tea bag folding....:D When the addiction bites it grabs you & you want to try everything!

Which is why the classes will be so much fun - you'll be able to have a go at all sorts, you lucky thing :)

Looking forward to seeing more of your creations

your cards are lovely, you have now joined the biggest addictive craft there is!! Your craft space will get larger and larger and larger, need I say more? But you will have a great time, and it is good therapy.
