This has just arrived and it is beautiful!! I want to print out <i>all</i> the pictures. I have always liked Joanna's CDs but this has to be my favourite so far.
I am pleased that I chose this as my one item from Craft Week.

Oh, I'm really jealous. I arranged for all my buys to go to my office, none had arrived by yesterday and today, I'm working from home, so I'll now not get anything until Monday:(

Bummer!! I'm sure you will be pleased with it when you do get to see it. I have already printed out three of the designs ready to make cards.:)

Oooooooooooooo - dat's nice :) I now know what my mum's birthday card will poss look like. Except that I'd promised myself I was going to use one the QVC TSV pop up cards...Hmmmmmm......more planning in my head....

And I still like the lima's rears!

I missed the stationery section (or is it stationary?? Can never remember) on last Sunday's show - it's quite lovely

There are so many different pictures and sizes I think you could do a card any shape. My head is full of ideas too.

LaLaLa - not listening:rolleyes:

Still, as ROC points out, I should have a lovely treat on Monday, which will be needed as I have to go for a nasty Mamogram on Monday morning:(

Also, I'm planning to have a sneaky print-off of a few sheets at work (sssh, don't tell anyone), where I have a super-duper laser printer - just to see if there is any difference. Can anyone tell me, have you tried printing onto Stardream or Moon-whats-it card? I've a feeling that this may be quite a nice effect?

I like the sound of this CD. Maybe I'll put it on my wish list

Moondust card dips..... as for printing..... I have printed onto Pearlescent paper and also onto some shimmery card I got from The Papermill - but I am unaware of what brand if any these were.

However what I can tell you is this - when it works its GORGEOUS...... however the trick can be in getting it to work..... I can't advice on using that type of cardstock thru a laser.... heat tolerance of the pearlescent finish would be the key there - but as you can heat emboss onto those types of card then I *think* you will be ok.

With inkjets the issue is the drying time - try fiddling with your printer settings - you may be better using the setting used for printing transparancies. Make sure you handle the printed page by the edge only when you lift it away from the printer and then leave it somewhere safe for at least a couple of mins before checking to see if it is dry - it may take longer than just a few mins to dry too so you will have to experiment to find out what works best with your printer.

Is the other issue dependant on the weight of the card? I haven't treated myself to the moondust/stardream card (yet :D ), but I thought it would be too heavy to go through a printer? I suppose you just have to try & see what happens.

I have just spent a happy hour printing out bits for our wedding anniversary card (meerkats) & stuff for mum's card (possibly) (dolphins)... Plus letting DD choose the pics she wants to see (not print LOL).

I really need to sit for longer with this CD cos some of the backing papers are spectacular - anyone seen the pink feathers in the flamingo topper section?! Then you bump into bits of foliage & tree silhouettes & water - even rippled sand (with the meerkats). The only sad bit was that there are no meerkat extras & a dolphin bookmark would have been ideal - I'll just have to make my own from the shed load of tags I just printed off :D

Card weight is an issue Welly, but only really really heavy card - Stardream/Moondust will go thru most printers easily as it is not that heavy. However regularly printing large quantities of card weight material as opposed to paper weights (say up to 120 gsm) will increase the wear and tear factor on the printers paper feed mechanisms - when that happen your printer is stuffed because once sheets start to slide in the feeder mechanism it makes the print blur and it's not usually cost effective to repair/replace just the paper feed.

I have a problem with the glossy paper sold on C&C and elsewhere that is supposed to be good for decoupage. Joanna Sheen uses it a lot. I have a photo printer and it never works. The prints come out very wet and blotchy. I can use quiet heavy card in the printer tho as it has a special setting for it. That is what I have been printing the new CD on. If the cards are any good <i>maybe</i> I will upload them.

Phree, my supplier says you can laser print onto stardream (as opposed to inkjet, which they don't recommend - although I have successfully inkjet printed text onto stardream, you just need to let it dry off). I haven't had a go with pictures yet but I thought some of the African piccies onto that beautiful Opal Stardream (which is one of my top three cardstock choices ever).....

The PaperMill shops sell surplus card and paper made at their factory in Cumbria which is why i dont think they give it a 'name'

I"ve run out of black ink ! But it was quite low anyway & I have a replacement cart floating round somewhere.

Now then, as I'm already placing an order with JS (Keepsake Celebration board + some pearls), methinks I may just get some stardream card too :) It says the citrine card is cream with a gold shimmer, so that'll do for this wedding card & should look lovely embossed...

Hello everybody.
Today I had to make a card for a friend who goes on exotic wildlife holidays, so the new CD was perfect.
I printed the pictures on a heavy card and they came out brilliantly.
I agree that I could have done with a few more animals, and a few more bookmarks, but we can't have everything can we?
Spent the afternoon clearing out the craft room. Oh such fun!!

:)

Thank you Matilda, you've just reminded me of a mate of our's who's done a couple of safaris & was up for doing one this year but has had to have an op on his spine instead. This CD'll be ideal :)

Or possibly just remind him that he couldn't go

I have to do another card for someone who has been whale watching and used to work with wildlife. This CD is certainly earning it's keep so far!
I can't go on holiday this year either, but that's due to lack of funds!
