Hey there everyone, I've not been around much ~ my anti-social self, computer probs & life took over for a couple of months!

Anyway, went visit my Bro & family (in Peterboro) this weekend and persuaded my SiL to drive me round on Sat morning.
We went to A&B's place first, we got there at just before 10, a lovely guy cycled up and apologised for being late (he wasn't!) opened up and let us in. I had a great browse round with a cup of tea in hand!

I picked up some odds & ends of card/envelope packs from the pound baskets.
A really lovely pad of silver rainbow mirri card (five pounds)
some peel-offs (rude not to really!)
Even SiL and niece got some kids craft stuff for my Great Niece for Christmas.
All in all a pleasant half hour, I was offered a tour of the studio but didn't want the family getting too grumpy from all my 'oooohing' & 'aaaaahing'.
All in all I spent about 14 pounds & have been stroking my mirri *lots*!!

Then off to Tesco @ Hampton, then to Pondskippers! Next time I go I will get SiL to drop me off! I missed soooo much lovely stuff 'cos I didn't want them too grumpy with me!
I picked up some odds of papers, vellums etc 10/20p a sheet.
An ex-PoD for 3 pounds! vine print on yellow, green, pink card stock. tags, glitter flower & vase die-cuts.
a tape pen, always had my doubts about them, but I LOVE IT
also a Christmas kit for 6 pounds. 583 053. circle & gatefold cards, crackers, place settings, die-cuts and stickers. SiL has the crackers and place cards with some stickers and die cuts.
Spent about 20 quid.

At the checkout I spoke to (I think) the owner, she asked where I heard about the place and I mentioned CRAFT TELLY she seemed surprised but pleased!

So, I didn't bother with Colemans this visit because I spent up at the fabby places mentioned.

Turned into a bit of a ramble! off to work soon, so I will pop back later for a proper catch-up here.

(((((hugs)))) to all

Cx

Glad you enjoyed the Peterborough shops. The chap in the A & B shop's great isn't he! He sounds like the same one that I met there.
I think Colemans have enlarged their craft bit - good job as Lakeland don't do craft any more.
Have you ever been to Sir Stampalot Colourarc?

I *love* Colemans, but, I find them a bit pricey ~ I do tend to bargain hunt!

I've not been to Sir Stampalot, I've seen it mentioned here. Does it do all papercrafting or is it mainly stamps? I'm not a huge fan of stamping.

I didn't even go to The Works this visit ~ or Harriets (not that that has *any* crafting connections!!)

Ah well, I feel better for the break!

Oh, that does sound like a lovely way to spend a Saturday. Wouldn't it be lovely if someone on here got to spend a good amount of time browsing a Pondskippers - we'll all seem to be really rushed to get somewhere (um, that's me mostly) or with people that we don't want to bore (everyone else, I think)! I reckon you could easily spend a good half a day in there having a look around and spotting all the things you've seen on CAC.

I liked that kit too - lovely & bright, just a too big...

Glad you enjoyed yourself Colourarc, I've not persuaded OH to drive me to A&B yet but it sounds well worth a visit.
I LOVE Pondskipper, apparently there is always different stuff in according to a lady near me who goes about once a month but there are always bargains. Did you meet the lovely little dog?
Not unsurprisingly it's SO much better than the Ideal World outlet shop! There are just so many little baskets to browse through...if you have the time, which none of us seem to have.
Little Jan, you could get yourself to CTM and CC as if you can get the bus to Ely then it's only another 20 minute journey to Soham. The very friendly ladies in both shops have told me to get off at the bus stop called The Shade and walk through a housing estate for about 15 mins and you're there. Both have also offered to collect me if I get lost on the way, how's that for service?!
I'm planning to give it a go myself in a couple of weeks and I'll let you know how I get on. It's well worth it as both shops are fantastic, packed with some really amazing bits.

Sounds right, I don't think it was a *full* kit - no envelopes - but there was enough to make it a bargain :D

Little Jan, not being able to drive can be a pain sometimes, but mostly I'm glad I don't! I have to say that I do have a great SiL though!

Diana, nope didn't meet the dog! It may have been too busy, if it's a wee thing it could have been trodden on!

I think I may well have to save my pennies for my next family visit, which of course will be around the first Sat of the month ;)

Well it seems you had a busy day out. Thank you for all your kind words about our warehouse we try to do our bit to keep the cost of crafting down! :) Glad you like Ruby (our Border Terrier) she's only 10 months but loves meeting the people (she's there in the afternoons)

Because many people come quite a distance to see us we have started a website (pondskippercrafts.co.uk) although there are not enough hours in the day to put all the things we want up we are getting on with it and adding to it every day.

You may like to know we are adding a coffee and tea area in the warehouse so you can have a break that should be ready for the next Saturday we are open which is the 1st of November.

Thanks again for your encouragement

I have been to Calico to see Joanna Sheen a while back and the staff there are lovely while daughter was waiting outside they asked if she wanted a job she said only on a weekend as I have uni but they never got back to her,If I could get the bus I would, it used to run at 9.10 11.20 and 3.10 into ely with a return 3and half hours lalter, and if there was noone waiting at the stop at ely then it never ran back at all, when I first moved here Ii was waiting for the bus back, the 106 waited and waited started to panick . then I saw the driver coming out the cafe said the bus has gone ,aparently the bus does 3 journeys and changes the number when it gets to ely, but this time the driver had forgot and as none was waiting for the bus he just went to the cafe till the next route was due, lucky for me they said they would stick me on the school bus so I could get home , another time I ran for the bus to town as it appeared to be early, got on asked is this bus to ely (yes mam) goes to pay £2.00 one way:eek:sits down with people giving me odd looks and speeking in dylect (sp)

got off in town and this little old lady goes my dear you just got of the diddy bus I said what?? she goes the diddy bus its the local gypsies bus
that runs on market day, I'd not get on there again if I was you:eek::eek:

now the council say not enough people use the bus as most drive and the elderely use the village, so the bus has stopped.
now they are closing the PO and shop.
talk about stranded:(
sorry for going off topic

Thanks Lucie

I used to go to Boston quite often when we lived in Lincs, there used to be a craft shop there then but it was a bit out of the way - I only found it by accident when we parked the car near it. lol One of the big shops used to do craft stuff as well.
Haven't been there for over two years now, we are just about on the Cambridgeshire/Lincolnshire borders now. We lived quite near Spalding before.

I think it was called The Crafty Patch.

The Crafty Patch closed down earlier this year I think. I have to admit I only went there once and wasn't too impressed with their selection. Oldrids do have some craft stuff but I never think to go in, lol

Hello. I am not sure if I am supposed to do this on here but I thought some may like to know that the pondskippercrafts.co.uk is now working and we have just started a 15% NO VAT December sale - a little early but it's nearly Christmas.;)

But especially for people here on Crafttelly.com we have set up a special code for you to use at the checkout which will give you a further 10% off.
All you have to do is type CRAFTTELLY10 at the checkout and click the apply button and it will do the rest. :)

I hope I have not broken any rules by doing this here if so please accept my apologies.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all
