View Full Version : Posh enough?

This is the engagement card I've made for a commission from one of the mum's from DS's class. The only remit she gave was that it had to be 'very posh' (the recipients got engaged in Dubai!). I struggled with 'posh' & I'm still not convinced I managed it. It's not a terrible design, I'm just not convinced it's 'posh'; what makes a card 'posh'?? I've had the design in my head for about a week but haven't had time or felt well enough to make it. Still don't feel top notch but I made it up this morning cos although she said she's not in any hurry for it, it dawned on me yesterday our school finishes for half term today so she wouldn't get it for another week and a half, which is a bit much.

It's beautiful Welly. I think it definitely falls into the "posh" category.

'Posh' to me would be expensive & exclusive looking but definitely neither overly ostentatious or remotely chavvy - your card is definitely 'posh' Welly, it's lovely! :glass:

(Unless they are chavvy people obviously, in which case.....expensive, exclusive, ostentatious and chavvy would be fine......! lol)

For option 'a' think: Would Judith from Eggheads like it?
For option 'b' think: Would Katie Price like it?

Beautiful card Welly. I wonder if by posh she meant expensive looking - if she did your card certainly lives up to that description.

Well posh! And of course, unique! Couldn't buy it in a shop, and wouldn't want to - who wants mass produced when they can have unique?

A beautiful and elegant card Welly. I'm not suprised that you struggled with the brief of 'posh', but I'm sure that this is just what your client had in mind.

I agree with all kitten says, it is very elegant and that translates as posh in my opinion.

Gosh  Thank you...

The lady who commissioned it didn't turn up at school - DS says her daughter wasn't in school, so I still have the card here after all that rush yesterday :dull: I'm a little bit happy about it actually, cos I made an envelobox for it & made a bit of a boob sticking it together, so I can now do it neater or maybe make a vellum wrap..

There ya go welly - and I think you certainly can call that card "sumptuous" and "luxurious" so I guess that makes it "posh" too :)

It's a lovely card and I am sure the person it's been made for will love it.
