I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that the MS punches are manufactured by EK Success. Not seen the film though, didn't even know there was one about her.

Thats what I thought Alice when I saw the film a few years ago. To be fair, as a woman she must have a certain amount of hardness about her to have been so successful - especially in America, and there are plenty of men who behave the same way but when a woman is ruthless it somehow seems worse........love the products though! :)

i think if it was un true martha is the sort of lady to sue the pants of people
It IS true that she had top go to jail because of tax evasion! I don't think she can be a very moral person if she is happy to break the law - there's a big difference to tax avoidance where to try to minimize what you pay and tax evasion where you just try not to pay it!! I'm sure she'd still be a very rich woman even if she paid her taxes!!
Have not seen the film but it sounds like it's probably true based on what I've read about her!

She didn't actually go to jail, she was under house arrest, hardly much of a punishment really, being stuck in a mansion.....! LOL
She couldn't come over for any of her own shows over here though (though she's too big a name to want to bother coming herself anyway! lol), as due to being a convicted felon, couldn't get into the UK!
I didn't realise that. I'm sure if she was an 'ordinary' person she would have ended up in jail - just shows how much money she has to spend on 'the best' lawyers!

She got done for insider trading , conspiracy and making false statements. I'm sad to say that insider trading is more common than you'd think and very hard to prove. The civil case was dropped against her and she isn't allowed into the UK because of her criminal conviction for obstructing justice.
She did spend 6 months in prison in Virginia and then was released under supervision for two years.
These are the facts guys! She has done her time, and whatever you think - her come back has been amazing! The film I saw about her was one of those TV ones and was utter rubbish.
As for for her ownership of companies tricky this one, she was banned from being a director etc by the SEC for many years, her craft products have her name but she is careful about the use of her name and control of companies.
Ok the craft company is owned by http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?action=getcompany&CIK=0001091801&owner=exclude&count=40 - the company is SEC regulated - ie regulated by the US government - it's all legit. She owns part of this company, but not all of it - a lot is owned by her family and charitable trusts.
I wonder what I do for a living? :}

Its no different to lots of other people, who have done crimes, of a financial nature, its not like she murdered anybody! Have seen bits of a programme about her, ruthless, but you dont get to where she has without being ruthless.
Not saying I agree with people breaking the law, but I still have a lot of respect for what she has achieved.

So do I EM, I know insider dealing is rife. I have a big client who was jailed and fined in a v high profile case, yet he made his way back. I don't think it will affect us buying her punches lol. I could be ruthless at work and richer I guess, but I'd be on my Blackberry 24 hours a day! Bet she never has time to craft! I think the UK government stance to Martha is ridiculous after all this time, considering all the hard crims that end up here!

'Course it won't & not surprised she is still so successful, Americans generally especially I think don't give a stuff about such things, all they admire is 'success', it's an integral part of their mentality!

I agree ROC, when you think of some of the people they do let in, compared to some of them MS is as harmless as a hamster, no threat to anyone or anything....!

OOO i disagree about letting her in the country, I know her crime was not a violant crime, but we have a law about entering this country, no different to USA, china, australia (irony in itself), and others, if she was let in though, we would all be up in arms about her getting priority treatment

Meanwhile we have to keep a muslim activist who spouts hatred at every turn simply cos the Egyptians got there first and took away his nationality so good ole England gets stuck with him. In my opinion spouting hatred is a far worse crime.

Can someone tell me this.......can victims of crime go to the European Court of Human Rights and get our law changed to actually get justice?? Sorry to go off track vis a vis Martha Stewart but it makes me seethe when the criminal has more rights and is getting even more every time you watch or read the news than their victims can expect.

Which film are you talking about the 2003 life story or the 2005 which goes to jail? Both have Cybill Shephard as MS.
When I first saw this (2003) I had trouble believing it to be real but think that if it weren't she would certainly have sued.
What a piece of work...

Oh EM, did Egypt getting in first in this matter really warrant them being stuck with freaky fred from next door!
I had the local Police Sergeant round today to ask if there was any disturbance on the park last night. I heard nothing, and I am right in front of it, or rather it is right in front of my house.
FF had 999'd again alleging all sorts of trouble out there. I told this nice policewoman that in fact the majority of the time I get woken up by FF screaming abuse out of his bedroom window, and if she liked to check with my normal neighbour on the other side she would tell her the same as we often complain to each other that FF has woken us hurling abuse at the youths.

The only comment I have to make on this lot is a quote from the film "A Man for All Seasons" - the story of Sir Thomas More who was ultimately executed by Henry VIII for having the temerity to stand by his convictions in the face of Henry's desire to divorce Katherine of Aragon. I saw this film when I was a teenager and while I do not know if Sir Thomas ever actually said this the words from this line of the script have stayed with me ever since.
Sir Thomas is having a disagreement with his soon to be son-in-law, SIL is arguing that laws one does not beleive in should be ignored - and Sir Thomas tell him something like this (sorry probably can't rememeber the lines exactly) ...... our country and rights are hedged around with laws, and if you should decide to start cutting down those ones that you disgree with, where and when will you stop finding laws to disagree with, and when every last law of this country has been cut down, where then will you find shelter from the harsh winds that blow across the land.
Sure Martha Stewart did the crime, and fair enough she did the time too, but IMO doing the time does not change who you are..... a person with little regard for the law.
