I don't think it was - they just kept warbling about Dawn not being in for a couple of weeks. She did mention that she might poss be doing an hour on Sat 1st Nov though, nothing confirmed at the time.

I got the definite impression that there would be no craft on until the possible show on the 1st, bit naughty of them not to mention the new show imo

Well, it's not a real craft show without the Queen of Craft, is it

P'raps Ms Bibby is a bit miffed she is not going to be there to oversee the guest so asked them not to advertise during her show.

DianaDreads

Yes, it obviously doesn't have her seal of approval.
Anyway, she never gets to advertise her craft studio or brother's antique shop does she? ;)

I always think the funniest thing is when she says how much an item cost in her shop cos she charges some scary prices

Must still sell though, but I am sure she rakes in more from QVC sales.

I have noticed that Dawn tends to this quite a lot. I find it a little ungracious and unnecessary. I assume that she wont be doing any shows on the 4th November either (Anna Griffin TSV) if she is not scheduled back until the 11th.

There are some other crafting shows on that day so maybe Leonie is doing those??

I believe Backs Fagg is doing the show on Tuesday and she is a Papermania
person and does mainly scrapbooking I think

I think its a bit of a case of sour grapes - why not mention the other craft shows? It was made to look like no craft until Dawn was back.. but in fact there are quite a few hours due to be aired.............. personally I look forward to other people demonstrating as you get lots more ideas instead of same thing over and over again....

Looking forward to creativity show on Tuesday though as its something different... wonder if Kirsty or Clare are on again - I thought they did really well

looking forward to this show, hoping it'll have some nice basic grey (that i don't have already:D) or some doodlebug stuff in it

as to miss bibby and the continuous mentioning of "my shop""my design studio" and the presenters calling her "the queen of craft" trying playing our game, whoever guesses closest to the number of times these phrases come up in a show, win a prize:D

Sorry gang but I didn't get any of that from what Dawn said on last weeks show!

Spiteful is not a word I'd associate with Dawn Bibby!

I think her mentioning that she wasn't on this week was purely down to the fact that after recently winning the most popular show on QVC she was trying to explain her absence as most of the time she's missing people accuse her of taking too many holidays! (I remember the posts on Shopping Telly a while ago when I was a reader and not a member!)

People always seem to "knock" Dawn which is such a pity as she's one of the few people left who really care about the crafter and the crafting business and yes I have met her and several other "names" in the craft business and the "genuine" ones I can count on the fingers of one hand!

Rainbowwand

I can only speak for myself, but spiteful is not a word i would use to describe Dawn Bibby, and i hope none of my posts gave that impression, i also do not get the impression that other poster were calling her spiteful either

gill71
27-10-2008, 03:06 PM
No, I don't think she's spiteful either. However, I find her highly repetitive...whether it's demo-ing or talking about the design studio, her brother's antique shop (giving him a free namecheck whenever possible!), the dogs, the magazines, etc. From what I've heard, though never been, her shop is nothing special.
Saying all this, I do miss her shows when she's not on!

I have been to her shop, and it's FANTASTIC, my dh and I were made very welcome, and they gave us tons of attention and help too. Which is more than can be said of rather a lot of other craft shops I've been in, oh yes, and I've been in rather a lot

I was at her shops, for the first time, a few weeks ago.
I found the unit in Oswaldtwistle Mills very disappointing after all I had heard Dawn say about it.Then we went to the shop at the design studio and that was a very well-stocked shop with plenty of room to look around. Her nephew was serving and he was extremely helpful.

Hi,

Just to let you know that the reason that the Mill shop wasn't as fully stocked is that they are winding it down and the shop will be at the design studios now.

I think it may be confusion with the new section 'Dawn Bibby & Co' when the thread is actually called 'Creativity Life Crafting' and is in the Dawn Bibby & Co section, it may look to some like this is the name of the thread. I really think the section should revert back to 'QVC'.

Ceejay started the thread asking whether or not Creativity Crafting would be a scrapbook show and who would be the presenter. I think the thread has gone way off topic and perhaps we draw a veil over this confusion.

Good idea ROC.

I don't know who we contact but perhaps who ever does could let the admin of this forum know that we don't like the personalisation of the new names as it looks as though they are sections to "attack" individuals rather than discuss the craft shows on television channels. The titles on here now are clearly leading to confussion.

Thats not what we are about on this forum, and i dont feel that we have "attacked" her but rather voiced our opinion of how she can sometimes come across on the television, and nothing to do with her as a person outside of television

Anyway - just getting back on topic for a tiny moment ( :D )....I get to watch on the big telly today cos I've packed my little darlings upstairs to play on the PS2!!!

Seems to be going to be mostly a scrapbooking show...And so far I think Becks seems quite lovely :)

I'm enjoying it too, Becks is certainly a natural for presenting. I love basic grey papers, they are so beautiful.
With regards to the change in screen style/font, I keep wanting them to push the item details more to the side of the screen, it's off-putting where it is!

I agree about becks style of presenting She is a breath of fresh air. I think she could persuade me to scrapbook.
I set the sky box to record the start of the show until I got in from work Unfortunately it appears to have recorded 630 not 640 so I now have 4o mins of Rugrats to watch. never mind I will see the 2nd hour

the thing with the details is that it is set for widescreen and normal 4:3 people to watch it without cutting any of the details of the screen as otherwise you could be missing parts of the details of screen like item numbers

Have always loved basic grey, especially the double sided, not bad prices either.:D

I get the impression that Anthony is really enjoying himself too.

I think they laboured a couple of the items - there's only so long you can look at a cutting mat  I don't know if it was just me, but they seemed to be given more time than usual for most products? I always feel DB is being chivvied along & charges through the samples, descriptions & demos at a rate of knotts. Seemed quite relaxed today...

They eventually sorted out the details for the stickers, but I've found them cheaper elsewhere now :D May just get a couple of sheets. And I've always threatened to treat myself to some of the Doodlebug alphabet rub ons too, I get a bit fed up with using peel off alphabets. Becks was right btw, I know that Papercraft Inspirations use the Doodlebug rub ons on loads of their samples.

Hi Lucie,

I found the Loopy Lou ones here (http://www.theglitterpot.co.uk/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=346) at The Glitter Pot. £1.49 each with £2 p&p which I get to £13.92 as opposed to £15.25 from QVC. Not a lot of difference, but a) you might get them quicker (never used this site before so I don't know what their delivery is like) or b) you can order a smaller set - I don't think I want 8 packs myself...
