I've heard lots of crafters talking about Michaels (the American version of Hobbycraft), but I think I had only ever visited one before and that was 15 years ago, before I got into cardmaking. We've just spent a week in Canada and I didn't think I would get a chance to go to one as when I checked their locations, there didn't seem to be one near where we were staying.
However, on our way back to our hotel from Niagara last week, we saw a discount outdoor wear shop off the expressway which OH wanted to explore. Imagine my delight when we pulled into the car park and I saw a vast Michaels in front of me!
Needless to say, I spent a happy hour looking at all the goodies and came away with a sackful of stash (luggage allowance was 2 cases each of 23kg, but I managed to restrain myself from acquiring a second suitcase!) of stuff that is hard to find over here, like balsa wood Christmas decorations that you paint yourself. OH got two pairs of trek shoes from Santa (me) as well, so he came away pleased too.
