Hi,can anyone help me with this,a friend asked me to make it for her in-laws,I had to make a box for it because of the flowers.I usually just give cards away but she is insisting on paying me.http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd379/cats210/DSCF0300.jpg

Very difficult. If you were really happy to give it to her could you just ask her to pay what she thinks it's worth? I think cards can be very undervalued and this has quite a bit of embelishment so if you are setting the price then don't under estimate it.
(I have just realised I have not really been any help - sorry)

I would charge at least a fiver and if you put their names on the box charge 7.50, people love seeing their names on things !!

p.s. chuck another rose on the corner of the box too

Angela, what was the result of the card you made for the work colleague who'd upset his girlfriend? Did she forgive?

I'm with Julie, charge at least a fiver. And don't forget the friend is buying it for her inlaws special anniversary. She will want to pay for it otherwise it will feel like she's cheating them out of a good card for their special day.

I make loads of cards for work mates, friends and neighbours and charge as follows: £3 for a card that fits into an ordinary envelope, £5 for a card that requires a box or a large A4 card for all staff members to sign when colleagues leave, have babies, have a special birthday etc. Every penny goes to Sightsavers so people are more than willing to pay (often will give me a fiver and refuse change). Sent them nearly £400 last year, about half from selling Christmas cards which are much cheaper as people bulk buy. I agree with the comment that people love personalised cards, it makes it extra special for them.

Forgot to add, your card is so sweet Chris. So appropriate for a diamond anniversary.

I wouldn't charge any less than £5 either. That is a lot of work and material, particularly when including a box.

Yes, £5.00 sounds about right to me as well. I was in Waterstones the other day browsing the cards, and for a very plain small square card you'll pay around £3.00, so I do think that handmade creations with lots of beautiful embellishments should cost more. I really love your card, it's very pretty. I have that stamp set somewhere but haven't got around to using it yet like a lot of my stamps!

Well, as I didn't commit myself in my first post on this I will say that I felt you could charge (without anyone being suprised) £4.99 but ... I actually think £9.99 is much more realistic. (Ever the optimist!)

I would say a Fiver too, and it's gorgeous, so well worth it.

worth at least £5.00 when you see the price of mass produced cards,Hubbie has a habit of leaving the price on my cards, my birthday card was £5.99 and although very nice it was mass produced not an original like yours.
MIL is always saying how nice the cards are I do for family and why don't I make them to sell , well I don't think they are a patch on your lovely creation and I( did try once and was left out of pocket) and when I asked MIL if she wanted to buy any at Christmas, she was surprised they cost more each to then a bog standard box from the cheap shop, and I only wanted £1.50 for a large personalised card,so no sale there LOL

cheap cards are exactly that..... cheap:yawn:....whereas a handmade/homemade card is thought as expensive, but its not, they dont think about the effort thought etc gone into it, so I send most of mine to charity shops, in my town there are 4, most of mine go to the red cross, and the hospice. We should all be proud of our talent:star:

Thanks again, she did love it and her oh was "over the moon".If I do a special card again I should ask first what they would want to pay and go from there.

Glad she loved it, how could she not?!

Yes, that's a good idea, then you can tailor the amount of work you put into it accordingly xx
