I just finished this altered drawers project. I bought the drawer unit from a website called Moonfire Designs (thank you Ephemera for posting that link on here ). I used Graphic 45 Le Romantique papers, aged gold acrylic paint around the edges, Tattered Rose and Vintage Photo Distress Inks and some embellishments from my stash.

Absolutely brilliant Rachel, looks fabulous, I totally love it! sun:
What did you use for glue....Pinflair or something?
I've got a cheap set of small drawers, (I think they're plastic, not wood, would it still work?), almost tempted to have a try myself but I'm so cack-handed......! LOL

Gorgeous Rachel, love the papers.
I bought some 7gypsies tissue paper this weekend to do a similar project, but haven't worked up the courage tp stick it on yet.
Des anyone know the best adhesive to use? I have mod podge and golden gel gloss medium - don't want to waste any of the paper practising as it wasn't cheap (that makes me sound really mean!)

That is absolutely stunning Rachel, where are the drawers from? Are they something you had or did you buy them to alter them?

_____ Er just read your post again. Ignore me.

It is really lovely.

I bought the drawers from this website:

http://www.moonfiredesignsltd.com/default.html

I used Hi-Tack PVA to stick the papers down. Any strong PVA glue will work. I know lots of people use Mod Podge as well. To protect the papers and give the project a glossy finish I applied Claudine Hellmuth Studio Gloss Multi-Medium on the surface layer.

I used to hoard beautiful papers, and be terrified of cutting into them. Now I've discovered it's more satisfying actually using them on a project.:)

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I have the drawers in my bedroom and will use them for storing jewellery and other keepsakes.

I have been doing altered projects only for a couple of months, but now I've started I can't seem to stop! It's really addictive once you get the hang of it. My partner is already saying that my projects are taking over the house!:)

A good tip for anyone thinking of doing an altered project is to get a sanding block. Tim Holtz does one, or you can pick up cheaper ones in craft shops. Gently sand the edges of your project once you paper is glued in place and it erases any rough edges - this method really is fool proof!. I usually them go over the edges with some Distress Ink if I want vintage look to my project.

so amazing - so good I have to say it again! But the title of the thread made me chuckle and I see I'm not the only one that had thoughts of knickers being altered to fit!!!
I am (in my ever decreasing time....!!!) hoping to work on a chest of bedside table drawers. It's been relocated to the bathroom for now but i really want to do something fabulous with it....not sure I can though - I'm worried I'll really botch it up! But thank you for the inspiration!! I dont think I'll be able to do it that good!!!!!
