being new to crafting, just about to start on my first proper card making session, i'd be interested in going to a crop or maybe even a workshop or class in my area. Does anybody know how to find out where such things are advertised, is it something that could be included on this site? Also, what are is the etiquette for crops, do you have to be invited or do you pay for them? How does it work?
Any info or suggestions would be appreciated!

Quite a few craft shops run day or half day classes and I found out about the one run by my local by picking up a list in the shop and then booking the classes.
I think it would be a good idea to offer this on Craft telly, but with us all strung out over the country, I can't see it working, unless you happen to be in the right place of course :)!
Apart from that, I think its a matter of looking in local papers, advertisements in the craft magazines. Some church groups run craft classes, some structured, some you turn up and muddle through together.

Dawn Bibby has a tiny teams list, they are all over the country run by someone who is willing to do it. Groups are all run differently from what I can make out but are okay. You should be able to find a group list on her web page.

If you are anywhere near Barnard Castle, then Graphicus do crops on a regular basis - details are on their web site. As others have said check out your local craft shop for classes in your area. I started off with some classes run by my local craft shop, they were fun and a great way to try stuff without actually buying, that way I found what I liked to do if you see what I mean.

thanks all, i live in Leeds so not a million miles from Barnard Castle. I do like DB and it would be a fun day out to go over to her studio for a class, I'm sure there are some craft shops in Leeds so I'll have a look around. I know people put stuff about workshops on this website but if anyone knows of any events in or around Leeds, I'd love to know!

I know of another CT member living in Leeds, can't think who!! lol
You may like to check out Samuel Taylors trading as Click on Crafts on Roseville Road, they have classes all the time.
There is a Hobbycraft at Crown Point, A Craft Wise in the Merrion Market and the Samuel Taylors behind the House of Frazer has a limited range of craft products. If you find any other outlets please can you let me know about them. If you are feeling brave enough and don't mind the drive, there are plenty of bargains to be had at the QVC Outlet store at Warrington sometimes.

Thanks for that Lorraine, I'll have a look at all of those! Definately worth a trip to Click on Crafts if they have classes. I've just started working from home so need to get out of the house now and again or I'll end up going bankrupt spending money on the tv craft stuff, he he!

Hi Henrietta, as this is a very old thead, it may be better to post your question in a new thread of your own making with a thread title that makes it clear what area of the country you are looking for classes in. More folks are likely to take a look that way and reply if they know of any suitable clubs.
