There was crafting galore aboard the Ocean Countess, with workshops from Kanban, Hunkydory, Debbi Moore, Paint Fusion, Pinflair, Spellbinders, and Docrafts.

Presenters Leonie, Nigel and Shaun were joined by wonderful demonstrators including Sue Wilson, Sheena Douglass, Debbi Moore, Sarah Millsop, Sheila Halliwell, Dawn Wheeler and Christine Bell, to create a team of craft aficionados that came aboard ready to craft, craft and craft some more!

Excursions to Amsterdam and Hamburg gave those on board the chance to visit somewhere new (although many chose to stay on the ship and craft!) and the evenings involved plenty of delicious food in the restaurant followed by dancing at the disco.

Everyone returned with bags full of crafting goodies and souvenirs, not to mention plenty of fond memories. The team organized  a weekend of crafty fun at Hayling Island near Portsmouth, and were joined by 320 of their loyal Craft Club members and members’ friends and family. The break proved a huge hit, with crafters learning new techniques and brushing up on their crafting skills through workshops and craft demonstrations from resident craft expert Dawn Bibby as well as guest experts Debbi Moore, Pinflair, Hunkydory, Potterycraft, Creative Expressions, Card Creations Plus, Kanban, The Glitter Girls and newcomer Jane Goff.

Dean even got everyone singing along to his especially adapted version of ‘We’re all going on a crafty holiday’, followed up by an ever-popular round of bingo! He was also on hand to help club member Jean Carter celebrate her 80th birthday with fellow crafters and new-found friends, presenting her with a cake. “This is the best birthday I’ve ever had!” said Jean.

Dawn Bibby echoed the sentiments of the Create and Craft team, “This was a wonderful opportunity to spend time with true crafting enthusiasts sharing tips and crafting fun with our lovely viewers. Everyone crafted to their hearts content and went away asking, ‘When is the next one?!’”

“Hi Everyone. Thank you for all the very candid feedback on our Christmas Song this year! We appreciate it may not have been everyone’s cup of tea but we were always intending to release this song ahead of Christmas and try to sell copies in order to support Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Rather than just do something specific about Ideal World and Create and Craft we decided to do a more general Christmas Song that might have a wider appeal. So we stumbled upon this track from Swingfish and invited them to join our presenters in studio to make our Christmas video. The band and all our presenters gave up their time and effort for free and we’re really please to announce that we have already raised several thousand pounds that will help us hit a target to build a nuerosensory unit at the hospital.

To that end we do hope you will join us on Monday when we will be having a GOSH…It’s Christmas day, where we will be looking to raise even more money across Ideal World and Create & Craft, for this very special cause at this very special time of year.
